An ancient shield. They consisted of a wicker frame covered with leather.
Some shields were covered with fur-lined hide or had padding of wool, feathers, grass, or even paper between two layers of leather.

All-metal shield. With a serrated border, openings, and a lantern.
Recipe: Metal Bars + Lantern.
Useful on the lower levels of the mines.

"European fencing shields, or rondaches, were often equipped with spikes and devices for capturing and breaking opponents' blades, such as a serrated border, raised ornamentation, or openings in the shield's double body. They were sometimes equipped with lamps (a lantern shield or trench rondache), which were either simply hung from a hook in front or housed in a special housing on the inside of the shield, shining forward through an opening window."

The spread of kite-shaped shields was linked to the development of cavalry. Initially, they were equipped with solid-forged bosses, like those on round shields, likely made of wood and covered with leather, with metal bindings at the edges.
