Quality hardcap

Cap Quality at 100.

I don't like how open-ended the current system is. What's the point if the server is going to be wiped anyway?
Q100 should be the maximum Quality in the game.
Quality progression should be much less predictable. Instead of a slow constant grind upward, make it more RNG-heavy with ups and downs. Sudden jumps in quality are far more exciting and rewarding than the mindnumbing slow and gradual grind. Most players quit when the Quality grind kicks in. Get rid of it.

Maybe an idea for W16.2

Why 100 though, not 300?
I agree that at some point it becomes autism, but there's something that should keep players in the game longer than 1 week.

final message of a hypothetical farmer in active lively village: "Sorry guys, this time mulch halved in quality, no better trees for next 3 months. If I even will ever reach it again. Go ahead, take a break from the game. I'll farm on and let you know, if ever, to come back."

Quality could be rolled on individual items each time they are processed. The best/worst outcome could be +/- 20 Quality points.

The Quality distribution could follow a bell curve. If your average MulchQ is 30, most of your next harvest would also be around Q30, with a few units reaching up to Q50+.
The chance of reaching Q100 should decrease as Quality increases, making it increasingly difficult to hit Q100.

If you want more RNG wheel spins for better Q items, simply process more items and build a bigger farm.

lotta people like number go up game. if you wanna play games of chance go to a casino or something. raising quality is like the main reward mechanism of the game, why should it be random instead of based on skill/effort? how is that good gameplay?

Outside of hermit tier qualities the progression is already just gambling. Like 90% of quality trickles down from animals/ore. You can reasonably spend 1000 hours looking for topQ animals and not find a single node, and if you do find a topQ node it will be shit next week anyway.

The fact Jorbtar put in extra effort to set it up this way when there was already a better system, and will never revert it because their entire personality is sunk cost fallacy is proof their swedish ancestry is legitimate

Efficiently running an army of bots isn't skill. It's an unfair advantage. The average player doesn't do that.

We can all have Q2000 items if enough time passes but looking at player statistics this game is pretty much done and over after 3-4 months. What you can accomplish in that timeframe matters the most. I don't care about late wipe PvE herbivores, they are a minority.

You might say they deserve it but Day One players have the biggest advantage. I'm not the only one who would rather wait for W17 than join late.

Joining late into a wipe is a terrible experience as you are just picking up what players who have had their fun have left behind. Decaying claims are everywhere. Everything is handed to you for free. By the time you caught up you are already ready to quit

Imo Quality is bad for the longevity of the game. It shouldn't be a slow and linear grind.
