New Crops and Food.

We should be able to grow some typical staple crops like:
Corn
Tomatoes
Strawberries
Potatoes

Corn could be ground up into a flour product, and used in "corn and mussels" which is something in my region we have EVERY thanksgiving, and is the bomb.
Plus if those infernal mussels are still in game, we NEED something to do with all the million bazillion mussels people grind up pearl hunting, but they suck as a stand alone food. We need a product we can get higher quality, to bring up the quality of the mussels in what ever food they go into. There really aren't any or many recipes for mussels.
Tomatoes could be used to invent sandwich recipes. Who really hasn't thought about Bear Burgers and the like? Bear-Lettus-Tomato anyone? xD
Strawberries could be used with some of the other berry fruits in like a fruit salad, fruit parfait, or the like.
Potatoes are just really common through-out the entire world and could be a good addition, especially if it were a con mixer food. Baked Cheesy potatoes anyone?

Corn and tomatoes are native to the Americas. H&H is ancient Scandinavia.

Germanic regions actually. Though I am not sure how much the lore actually matters. There is other stuff in game that is completely foreign to those regions or times.

The better question is do we really need even more variety? I am a little bit overwhelmed by the thought of raising 40 different kinds of trees and bushes already. Add to that even more crops? Dunno... (We are going to get more variety anyway btw, the 2 very quick updates seem to be an indicator for that)

As mentioned, maize, tomatoes, and potatoes aren't native to the Eurasian-centric world of the Hearthlands...

However, I'm on board for strawberries, and maybe something like Yams as a proxy potatoey food.

Cabbage, turnip, parsnip, leek, oats, rye, wheat, beans, &c. There's a bunch.

Then again we have pumpkins which are the best crop in the game.

Jorb gets it right. Straight outta indo-europe. Keep tomatoes, potatoes, beans and other alien cultures away.

wait dont we have tobacco and black pepper. Yesterday i saw a tree creature that wasnt "realistic". But we rly need is garlic, cabbage, strawberrys , olives ramsons. I can make an endless list.
best would be when you can "season " the food to increase fep gain or decrease hunger etc. that would give an alternative to jsut roast meat. Qern could be used to ground the useless beries for seasoning. Or you can make soup in couldron with a clay jar.

Then don't, specialize. That's kind of the point, if they start adding in regional biome requirements for plants, you'll HAVE to specialize. This facilitates trade.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.
