Study Table

Postby DDDsDD999 » Thu Sep 24, 2015 8:27 pm

Problem: Pretty much everyone that knows how the curio system works leaves a "fill_study" script on overnight to fill their mentory with curiosities while they're away.

Solution: Implement a study table that automatically fills your mentory as curiosities are expended whilst you are logged out in the structure. The study table should be a 5x5 (or 6x4 if jorb wants it to be like a table for MAXIMUM IMMERSION) inventory.

An issue arises in how the curios should be prioritized into the mentory. Should the highest LP curios receive the highest priority? Or should the lowest attention? Or the lowest EXP cost? The best way to solve this is to have buttons right below the table that represent each choice: "Highest LP", "Lowest Attention", and "Lowest EXP".

There should also be an option to "Enable Identical Curios." e.g. Highest LP is selected, a dragonfly is expended, but instead of the pearl in the table being put in, the dragonfly within the table instantly replaces it.

I know how the curio system works... I don't use that but now I'm thinking maybe I should... QQ

How would they? From server side it looks exactly the same as if player was sitting there and performing those actions

edit: If such table was introduced then I think it should only replace curios with the same kind of item. Dragonfly for dragonfly etc.

Biggest MMO makers in the world can't fight bot usage.
This guy proposes for 2 guys to create inpenetrable protection from scripts. SCRIPTS!

In theory: by making a model of regular player behaviour then punishing people who are far away from that regular behaviour. So that the system would both punish someone that is playing almost non-stop for 4 days and a bot doing so.

They do need better metrics for in game behaviour. I disagree with punishing players (as do the devs, they don't have the resources to do it properly), but you could do a lot of balancing changes if you're better aware of what's going on ingame rather than relying on player reports.

I think supporting this concept in the base client isn't necessary as a priority. Namely because those custom clients are already available publicly (bdew has it I believe).

That said, it would be a nice feature to re-implement beds and tie this feature to them.

Yeah yeah, bots.. we get it, old news.

On-Topic:

Study table sounds nice though, as someone who cant play for more than a few hours during the week, being able to play during the weekend and fill up a Study table and not have to worry about it for a few days would be great.

Make it expensive though, require steel and other fancy shit, it would be worth it.

Would be pretty cool, would love an oaken desk with a skull on it
The low life has lost its appeal
And I'm tired of walking these streets
To a room with its cupboards bare
