Horses in PvP

Postby Jesus_Smith_Nandez » Sat Sep 26, 2015 4:12 am

If I have crim acts on, and aggro a player on a horse/click on a horse that has a player on it, please have the aggro default to the player on the horse before the horse itself.

Have a way to force a dismount if aggro'd or something along those lines instead of having to single-handedly aggro/kill the horse itself in order to force a dismount.

Thank you.

Bob Dole agrees with you.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

imo just make it so you can't attack from horseback until horses get balanced. Cheap fix, but we're not expecting to keep this current system at all so it's fitting.

I didn't die from this shit luckily, but the thought came to mind when I went to aggro this motherfucker

From my pali and aggro'd his horse instead. Luckily the wall saved me.

This could have ended up disastrous had the wall not been in the way and is an example of how bwoken the system in.

Yeah, horses are stupid good in combat now because of how exploitable they currently are. I agree with disabling combat while riding them until the system can be improved or revamped.

Introduce spears in the game and make it where you can hold off a horse from a tile or two away. I thinks alright that horses and players are two seperate entities. The person on the horse should have the combat advantage, he is on a horse. Horses have always been stupid good in combat, until guns were invented.

That's not the problem. The problem is that you can run up to animals and they can't attack you and instead spazz out while you get free hits on them. When you engage in pvp players must target the horse while the rider wails on them and, assuredly, kills them. They block arrows and can block player attacks. They're buggy and very, very exploitable. Cool combat mechanics are great and all but until they're a working aspect of the game, I don't believe it's good to let them dominate like they currently do.

I can think of a simple solution to this: While a player is mounted on a horse, the horses own collision hitbox goes away. This way animals and players can always target the rider that is sitting on the horse.

Sounds like a simple way to create new walljumping bugs to me.
