Buff Foraging

Postby rye130 » Tue Nov 03, 2015 8:15 am

Right now foraging anything besides glimmermoss is pretty pointless. Before people just forage botted the good curios because they were the best in the game. Now no one forages because most of them aren't close to the best and most of the ones that are good, are fated and unreliable to get.

A better balance needs to be found!

Good ryedea.

The only things I forage now are highQ muscles to get Spiders/Webs. Nothing else is worth it because of autostudy with the exception of Glimmermoss at stated and HighQ Dragonflys.

+1, something needs to be done about (curio) foraging. As it is currently it's pretty useless, besides Glimermoss.

I really should start mining... Here I'm on a mostly foraged curio diet larping my way into irrelevancy.

Need some type of container that increases our capacity to carry foraged goods, as in, something that only carries foraged goods and you hold it in a hand like a traveller's sack.

Perhaps with this implemented players would be more inclined to stay out foraging for longer periods of time and would actually spend time collecting taproots, nettles, berries, chantrelles, mussels, things that I would personally drop should I run out of space when I find something better.

My point is that none of that stuff is worth it for a developed player.

There used to be flotsams, edels, and bluebells which everyone wanted to be studying at all times. With them being fate based, I, and most likely most players, just consider them removed from the game as a reliable study. Now the only thing worth studying from foragables is glimmermoss. There needs to be more quality foragable curiosities for players to forage. This can be solved by buffing some of the current foragables some, or adding new ones. Foragables don't need to top the charts on lp/hr but right now they are pretty far down on my list of curios to study (besides glimmermoss).

I have a kindof feeling that foraging should mainly be an early game activity for non-developed players, and as you get more developed you do it less and less. Personally, I'd like to see more useful bulk easy-to-find foraged items (like blueberries), so that your gaggle of local newbs are worth keeping around. They tend to find foraging more interesting than brickmaking...

Make all plants farmable. Use mirkwood logs to grow various mushrooms. Blueberries can be a trellis crop. Grow nettles in patches that are harvestable multiple times like trellis crops.
