Being forced to eat berries and rats for inoptimal growth is part of the incentive to progress. I feel that nerfing concussive damage will have much the same effect as nerfing wounds to all be treatable -- you turn a system meant to add some difficulty and risk into an impotent bump in the road.
Getting knocked out is extremely common and a part of the experience of new players. You run into bats, you fight stuff you can't beat, you cause a cavein, fall off a horse.
One knock-out destroys an entire days worth of progress for several hours. Getting 3 knockouts effectively ruins your character for the next 2 days. As a newer player you are far better off getting killed and inheriting instead of healing the concussion damage because of how long the stat decreases last. That doesn't seem reasonable to me.
Having 50 concussion and a stat at 20 results in a 5 stat decrease. To add insult to injury the decrease is percentage based. This means for anyone progressing their character the decreases becomes worse with every third stat being negated due to the concussion. Having a 33% decrease to EVERY stat due to a few mistakes is fucking horrible. Players shouldn't be punished so much for something so common, especially not newer players who can effectively brick their characters and slow progress to a crawl.
It would work better if it was 5 damage or something small like that, instead of 17. That way occasionally screwing up doesn't brick your character, but being a dumbass will.
