in client Game development meter request

Postby Alince » Fri Mar 05, 2021 7:09 pm

Well simply put I want to ask for a development meter in the client so we can see how much time we have for the world potentially, ofc im not limiting it since the dev can always add new check boxes that will delay a world reset, but just so personally I will be able to somewhat estimate how much time until the world resets.
I am asking that mainly because I was never able to join a world on the first week of its reset at the very least, joining late has consequences and some blessings to it but for the sake of fairness(even though the world is fairly unfair to begin with lol).
would it be possible to pester the devs for a game development meter in the client?

I don't think it is ever a good idea to announce far in advance how long it is until a world reset. It's no coincidence that the population drops off a cliff whenever we announce one.

If that is the problem that you want solved, I'd be more inclined to send a mail to all registered accounts when a world reset is announced. The main reason I haven't done so up until now is that I'm kind of worried about getting our mail servers blacklisted, however, and I'm not entirely sure how to properly handle that.

Reset is always announced at least two weeks or so in advance? Just check the forums (or at least, the Announcements -section) once a week, that can't be asking too much.

You could use some commercial service for sending newsletters, their servers are not blacklisted so easily. Could even make some domain specifically for sending world reset emails, or something.
Yes it may be expensive and against all of your principles etc. but it wouldn't be too bad to do it once every reset or so.

literally every other game with ladders, leagues, worlds and temporary content successfully does this crazy thing where they like

with their playerbase

I don't mean to alarm you but I think at this point the bottom of the cliff is a baby step away

However that may be at the moment doesn't change what I said in the general case. Also if we were to announce a reset at this time, you'd be sure to see it drop to much further lows.

But do you really know that?
You have so far only announced resets a few week before the actual reset.
What if you announced the reset months or even an year before?
No one really knows what would happen if it was longer time before you announced the reset.
I think that it would be an interesting experiment to see what would happen, if you would for example announce when w14 begins at the same time when w13 begins.

I have no reason to believe anything particularly interesting would happen, to be honest. I think it's fair to say that the only people who want to know when a reset happens are those that are mostly/wholly inactive and just waiting for one.
