Fight mechanics

Simple as this.
Perfect survival rpg game in every way.. exept fight..

Problem:
You can evade.. pressing all the skills to evade, jump, dodge, block, and so on.. skills.. You still take dmg.

I'm noob, ok. But still. With 270 HP. If i dont run from an ant.. he can kill me. That's not realistic compared to rest of the game.

There is no logic .. that I need to run and press color of the skills to lower openings.. and i can't do it, wile face to face with opponent.
They just do faster then I can lower it. I just need to run and press skills like an idiot. Before doing openings/attacks/dmg.

Again... I must say.. as an programmer. Its no biggy to do slight change in mechanics. They just cant progress in openings if you counter them with appropriate counteractions. (You still suffer some dmg afcorse)

Can we please shut up and not tell this man the usual stuff we tell every single inexperienced player after they post this exact same thing? This will turn into another pointless 20-page thread.

Just be quiet and let it be like this. Let the devs answer if they want to answer, but the rest of us should be quiet. I want to see if we're able to do this as a community. I have no faith in you guys, prove me wrong.

Okay, before someone sais shit to you for saying such a non accurate analisys of combat in H&H i must advice you to see the many combat guides and videos already existing for this game combat. the ways to kill evey animal and to fight persons, and even check the way the combat has evolved in time in this game since legacy haven. Because it is how it is after jorbtar's design and a big evolution of patches and fighters doing big threads and stuff to improve or change it.

Maybe you dont like it, okay i get it, dont fight then, but if you really want to be listened about this in this forum, you need to perfectly study the combat system and fight a lot before complaining about a single feature of it.

Of course you can ignore my advice, but probably you will then surrounded by a mountain of shitposting and usual shit as Nightdawg said if you write threads like this without full knowedge of a feature of the game.

Or maybe instead of unhelpfully ridiculing OP we could constructively help him and just tell him where he's wrong. And you imply this is some sort of regular occurrence that goes to 20 pages but newbie takes (as in, from a genuine newbie) like these aren't common in C&I and it's very rare for such threads to get to 20 pages. Perhaps this should be moved to How Do I but 'point and laugh' is definitely not the right solution.

Read up on combat mechanics, the How Do I subforum and the wiki are good resources for the basics. Your HP depends only on your Constitution attribute, but even if you've got a tough skin and strong muscles, if you can only flail your arms like a pansy you're still not winning any battles. Use either an unarmed maneuver or a melee maneuver and raise your Unarmed Combat or Melee Combat skill accordingly. (Oak Stance is a good maneuver if you don't want to get hurt.) They don't deal damage without sufficient openings and the UA/MC skill determines how much opening you get per hit. (Also, Ants can't really kill you, they deal some Antcid Burns which heal quickly and eventually give you a Concussion upon knocking you out which isn't a big deal unless you're already near death. By the way, ants can kill people in real life.)

Can you explain how you think PvP is supposed to work at all if that's all it took to mount a perfect defense?

Ants are OP, but I assume you have fought bats given your current HP.

First. I need to say sorry to all of you guys! My deepest apologies..
I can see now it was a rush/unneeded topic.

PS:
Ya... I did look like, 2 youtube videos and did actually read wiki a lot. But I cant say that I got a lot of exp. in fighting.

It was written in an effect after fight with ant where I did only defensive skills (but did not oak stand, like @VDZ suggested) and I was kinda suprised that ant still progress in openings so fraking fast + doing so much dmg that, I needed to run for my life.
Like.. I just did not had other option, but just do that standard tactics (run... lower openings/punch/repeat)

But enough of my ego trip... Again, sorry guys. I can only see great community here now. And many thanks to @dagier, @VDZ, @delfer8 who did efforts/spending time, typing answer to my noobish opinion.

Well... my stupid idea is..
Not to nullify dmg completely, of course. Did not say it on the first place. But, lower the dmg taken significantly more if you do evasive actions/skills. Or doing it random, sometimes u take dmg, sometimes not. Since, it is realistic. Like 50/50% + cap it at like, 30/70% with maxed skills/abilitys.
Maybe, also, in that scenario, only defensive skills, should cap you movement to walking always. In that way, even noobish ppl can have some chance to run a way from ubers. (not like me, standing no chance when some older player did kill me, just spamming melee attack, when I was like 1-2 week of game play. Pressing def. skills did not help me with time to get into my base.)

But that was only my thinking I wanted to share/discus .. but I see now I probably needed more exp. in fighting before even speaking.
+I'm 50yo gamer. Ages took a tole on me (in my defense) :D
