steam release

it's a stellar idea for a variety of reasons.

the influx of players will be good. with them will come a handful of coders for custom clients too.

the eyes on this game alone would have more gold than all of our gold subs for the dwarves and their hard work

The game CANNOT handle a steam release with current infrastructure.

They should follow suit with Runescape and become a hosting service for community servers.

That way all the reset cucks can have their 1 month burst server and the RP's can have their cat person server as they want :P

With the current population the reviews would be overwhelmingly negative. The 5 or 6 nolifers that shitpost endlessy here under various accounts could not counter every single new player bad experience as they get a swastika paved into their claim, ransomed for hats or worse. Normal people hate that shit and dont waste any time leaving toxic communities.
Full loot mmo's with GOOD and HELPFUL communities fail hard on steam. This has to be a troll.

As I pointed out last time this was posted: I've no question the game is going to be review bombed on steam if they upload the 2015 Hafen trailer video, which must be replaced. Further, any description or content of the game should heavily advertise the unforgiving nature of the game, the necessity to learn the complex systems, and the presence of open PVP and permadeath.

I'd highly suggest linking to the Ring of Brodgar wiki, and describing the game as a hardcore survival crafting sandbox MMO with full loot PvP, the possibility of permadeath, and no rails.

If Jorb includes appropriate warnings to let those who want to avoid PvP environments self filter, and he includes a humorous trailer that makes it almost like the game is a gag, many people will probably try the game just because it's free and end up being pleasantly surprised by the depth.

Yes, the community is toxic and retarded. So is the community for Crab Game. In that game you'd probably go a few seconds on a crowded server before someone starts screaming n***** into the mic. It still has 91% positive reviews over 151,000. You just need to set expectations for HnH being an unmoderated sandbox filled with questionable people. Because it really is.

I don't think a more apt description has ever been possible to assemble from a single post.

any publicity is good publicity

the amount of eyes steam would set on it would be a great floodgate unlike ANYTHING this game has seen. it STILL has 1-2k people every wipe, imagine steamies.
