You know what this game needs? Some up to date videos.
You write in Haven and Hearth in youtube, you'll get a few videos done over the past 3 years, sure, but after that it's all from like 11 years ago.
Games benefit immensely from youtubers playing through them. My suggestion is pretty simple, if anybody has been thinking about or wanting to start a youtube series of their playthrough, do it. I'm starved for Haven youtube content, and I know others are too.
Besides the usual videos which explain the basics there should be some less known tips shown. Maybe a quick 1st to 3rd day series made by somebody who has played for years that shows off how to get a head start on getting setup. So basically, a more advanced starter guide with a little metaplay sprinkled in, that's what I feel is missing, some middle ground stuff like this that is entertaining for the majority of players both new and old.
We currently have nothing like this. The videos we have on Youtube now consist of a few basic tutorials, 1 or 2 playthroughs (These are great, I wish we had a few other people willing to jump into making these) and then the rest is just PvP shit.
Now I've seen jorb and loftars response when somebody asked them how they felt about asking streamers to play their game and they kind of scoffed at it and wrote it off and to be fair when you say it like that it brings to mind asking idiots like that Ninja guy to play, which would be cringe as fuck, but I don't think this idea should be knocked so easily. Look at somebody like Projarad on Youtube, his Haven & Hearth video has over 1.8 MILLION views and he seemed to vibe with the game (granted this was old haven). I think it could be beneficial to try reach out to somebody like that to make a video, I can think of no better way to immediately get a shit ton of eyes onto your game.
Basically, this is another long winded post but what I'm trying to say is Haven's youtube game is weak as fuck and it's to its detriment.
At the bare minimum we need more people recording their playthroughs in an entertaining way. We're gonna start to have 6 month world cycles coming up so people will hopefully be a bit more experimental and give it a try.
The best thing you can do for Haven now is to make videos on it.
Hell, we've still got 3 weeks before the new world begins, technically if anyone wanted, they could make a new character and record a sort of quick start guide on how to get properly set up in the first few days, what early curios/food they should be aiming for, what they should get done during the first day of playing etc etc in anticipation for the new world beginning.
Videos like that can be done now.
