Thingwalls omnipresence's perk is killing the game

Postby kmarad » Sat Dec 07, 2024 2:46 am

Entire armies being able to jump from one side of the map to another by just smoking pipestuff is just entirely broken.
The challenging part of tw to be able to attack the province is good on paper. Omnipresence on the global map is just a terrible side-effect.

Eve online has something similar when jumping provinces, but has a lot of stuff to counter abuses.
There is a jump fatigue notion too, but nothing like pipestuff to smoke it to 0 in a couple minutes.

There's something deeply wrong in allowing a few abusers to turn godmode on. People want to raid? Sure. Let them get into their boat, and do that the viking way. Not that TW abuse.

Issue being global trade has been really fun, and without TWs/Charters trade becomes pretty inaccessible.

Devs don't want to make a Boston in haven, and until the major market operator decided to step on toes it was working fine.
Lucky: haven is so quirky
Lucky: can be so ugly, can be so heartwarming
Sevenless: it is life

Im honestly 50/50 on it u are correct that if you run into someone affiliated with a group anywhere in the world, the rest of his group can port in within 2 minutes no matter where you are. I thought it was kinda lame. But then I allied felix and now I like it so thats why Im 50/50.

and then you have snail making threads in how TW needs to be nerfed, people can just mass teleport tws in infinite chase to be honest i have no idea how to fix cause TW jumping is good besides the chasing part

Bring back w10 charters and roads, still has the best player retention and end game community

fast travel is 100% toxic and needs to be removed in all instances exept hearthing.

at the current time. it is faster to travel from the southwest most TW to the northeast most tw.
than it takes me to run from my plot to the nearest thingwall.

and that has been true ever since thingwalls became a thing,
compleatly going against regionality, or any form of meaningfull distance.

they also ruin trade. as , provided that you have a road to your local tw. you are tecnically closer to any regional or biome dependant resource, like hedgehogs or whatever, than people living in a province with those resources present.

TW or not, as long as I remember, trading has always been part of H&H.

"Someone", sounds nice, but factions have dedicated scouting bots, telling them on discord where people are, what they are wearing...
I wouldn't be surprised if some even had maps with players / parties showing up, and the fastest tw path.

Snail is asking for a buff actually. He wants the tw to be known by just being in the province. Which means easier discovery of all of them, and faster access to omnipresence.

Agreed.

The only thing that can happen is more travel weariness being used on teleport.
We have had that in previous worlds and it didn't really have a big impact on how things went.
You can always just smoke more and eat more leaves.

I would rather try out something new for traveling rather than switching between higher and lower travel weariness cost.
Removing fast travel overall would mean we would need a much smaller world for there to be enough meaninful player interaction.

thats plain wrong.
if you think no fasttravel would discentivise people from building sneks and raiding/trading on different continents, then you dont understand the drive a large part of that playerbase brings up for shits like that.

i was settling on a shitty island without thingwalls at the border only reachable via deep ocean, bot hearthfires got build up near salt. 1,5 days after the first bronze in the world was smelted, breaking one had some fighters camp the island the same day.
