Feralization

Idea. Livestock becomes wild again if:
- they are outside a land claim for a certain period of time
- they are in a village with 0 Authority for a certain period of time

You can use hunger instead of a certain period of time. Or hunger + n time.
After this, the animal reverts to its wild form with a quality loss. For example, 2x.

Reason. I love horses and don't eat them. Instead, I release them into the wild. But they stay in roughly the same area, instead of galloping off into the sunset.
- This will allow you to release livestock if you don't want to kill them.
- This will also clear abandoned villages and the server of sleeping animals.

It's good that animals don't die, but fall asleep when there's no food—this allows you to log in whenever you want without worrying about having to re-tame all the animals. However, if a significant amount of time has passed(the land claim has expired), it's quite logical for the animals to wander off.

I don't think there is a need to make game worse and punishing.

Animal husbandry requires way too much effort to just have everything discarded just because you went off for a week and lost everything.

This goes against what they are trying to do with domestic animals.
They have specifically said they like that when you come back to the game after a long break you still have animals to come back to.
Thats why we got the dormancy state.

We can stop discussing the OP's idea its gonna be a no from the devs.

A village's land claim expires after 50 days. That's almost two months. So you can safely leave for two weeks, or even a month and two weeks, without worrying about your livestock.
And the personal claim to land lasts even longer.

The purpose of my proposal is not to make the game worse, but to give the opportunity to choose - to kill the cattle or to release them into freedom.

Yes, it's nice that even after a break, even a short one, you return to the game and your livestock hasn't died of starvation. I mentioned this in the last paragraph. But I think there's a certain point after which the chance of a player returning approaches zero. So I thought "cleaning" such villages would be useful.
But the main idea is to be able to free and set your livestock free. So that they don't remain in the area where you set them free.

Alternatively, you could add a "Release" function when clicking on livestock, but this has many drawbacks. Therefore, it's better if they transform back automatically after a while.
This is more natural and realistic.
If transforming animals on village land claims with 0 Authority doesn't fit with the developers' vision, then only the basic option—when the animal is outside the land claim—can be used.

It's 16 days with no flags at all, 9 days if you have 10 flags, and it's W16 speed.
In W16.1, if world speed affects speed of draining of claims, it's 10 and 5.5 days respectively.

I see. Thank you. For some reason, I thought these were real days, not in-game ones. The fact that it takes so little time for a land claim to be lost is unexpected.

And it also turned out unexpectedly that freeing cattle is more difficult than killing them.
