A way to deal with Midges

Postby Carl_Winslowns » Wed May 20, 2026 11:29 pm

I'm a fairly new player but something I've been having to deal with constantly and noticed as a pain point in this game are Midge swarms. I don't think applying Tansy to yourself is enough or even a deterrent at all, as the Midge Swarms will still constantly harass you, and quickly remove the Tansy buff that is supposed to repel them. If Tansy is supposed to deter the Midges, then this feature is not working as intended, and if it is, I suggest Tansy be changed so that Midges ignore the player completely as long as they have the Tansy buff. To be honest though, little things like these in games can feel like more than just little annoyances and can incentivize players to not want to log in as from what I've researched, there is no real counterplay to Midges as they're non-interactable.

I'd suggest adding something else to the game as well to further disincentivize Midges from bugging you, such as the ability to outright murder them either with fire or be able to create some insecticide to use against them.

Again in my humble opinion, the tools to deal Midges and the way they interact with the player are unfun. Have a great day.

I usually don't even use Tenesi, I just don't let them catch me. And even if they bite, it's not fatal.

What would you suggest?
What's the best way to fight them, and how should it work?
My english is bEd.

Make tansy extract and rub it on you.

In the post, i talked about that but how it's not really a good solution to them. They will still incessantly follow you instead of ignoring you like you'd expect from a repellant. They also will wear the buff off you very quickly, making rubbing tansy on yourself not a real solution to the problem which is, you want them to completely ignore you or better yet, actually repulsed towards you and fly away from you. I do wonder though this information was in the original post, if you did actually read it all the way through.

Cheers.

I'm a fairly new player but something I've been having to deal with constantly and noticed as a pain point in this game are sprucecaps. I don't think applying cleave to them is enough or even a deterrent at all, as the sprucecaps will still constantly harass you, and quickly heal the cleave wounds that is supposed to repel them. If cleave is supposed to deter the sprucecaps, then this feature is not working as intended, and if it is, I suggest cleave be changed so that sprucecaps flee the player completely as long as they see b12. To be honest though, little things like these in games can feel like more than just little annoyances and can incentivize players to not want to log in as from what I've researched, there is no real counterplay to sprucecaps as they're non-interactable.

I'd suggest adding something else to the game as well to further disincentivize sprucecaps from settling near you, such as the ability to outright murder them either with fire or be able to create some sprucecapcicide to use against them.

Again in my humble opinion, the tools to deal sprucecaps and the way they interact with the player are unfun. Have a great day.

Now speaking seriously - watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8i26g45WeY
It's exactly the same problem that Loftar tried to solve with midges, I'm not saying successfully though.

That's not how tansy extract works.
You are rubbing tansy on yourself, not tansy extract. Tansy extract is a timed buff where midges literally flee from you as long as you have it.

You are the one not reading, fuckin retard.
