Oh, and there were human sacrifices at that time! :!:

Burying some starvation alts or your ancestor's killer near your ancestor could give even more inheritance bonus.

But nonethless, would be an nice addition to the stagnating game

fixable easily. Forbid to teleport with skeleton, forbid to load skeleton into boat/wagon, give it some soak decreasing over time, make walk speed with skeleton like with a boat 2 slots occupied. If someone would like to carry your corpse regardless of all that - he deserves to enjoy your suffering to its fullest :)

Eh, could just make it so you can't hearth with the undecayed body unless they're related to you
Skeletons are fair game to hearth with though

So the person would have like 24 hours to collect their remains before the body decays, but the killers could always walk it back to their base before that if they could be fucked to

A discussion with Avu

[10:08:49 AM] Avu: I think maybe we should switch putting all our eggs into one character into having permanent buffs that apply to a ancestor line
[10:09:17 AM] Avu: so you work for those instead of pumping char stats
[10:09:34 AM] Avu: dunno how to solve crafting though
[10:09:50 AM] Jordan Coles: But then it might be better to kill off your character for stats similar to last world with einhar
[10:09:59 AM] Avu: no because you still have to grind a bit to get your buffs and you always have the same buffs once you gain them
[10:10:00 AM] Jordan Coles: Idk if suicide for stats is a great mechanic
[10:10:21 AM] Avu: you won't get stronger by dying
[10:10:28 AM] Avu: but you keep stuff when you die
[10:10:50 AM] Jordan Coles: Yeah so it's better to get say, 100 ua 100 mc and kill yourself, then pump your stats higher once you've got at least some buff added
[10:10:58 AM] Avu: ehm no
[10:11:08 AM] Jordan Coles: So it's suicide for stats :p
[10:11:15 AM] Avu: it's say you have half cooldown on punch ancestor power gained by whatever
[10:11:22 AM] Avu: all your chars from now on will have that
[10:11:45 AM] Avu: or you have 100 melee ancestor power that gets added on all your chars no matter what
[10:11:55 AM] Avu: why the fuck would you kill yourself?
[10:11:57 AM] Jordan Coles: Sure, so let me just kill myself to get that on all my characters
[10:11:58 AM] Avu: you already have it
[10:12:11 AM] Avu: no
[10:12:16 AM] Avu: you get the buff when you get it
[10:12:20 AM] Avu: and all your descendents
[10:12:23 AM] Jordan Coles: Because you get a buff after you have 1 ancestor
[10:12:32 AM] Jordan Coles: So grind a bit, kill yourself, then work on your main
[10:12:55 AM] Avu: if that is the requirment
[10:13:00 AM] Jordan Coles: Ah so 100 melee would be the goal to reach, then you get the buff
[10:13:07 AM] Jordan Coles: And if you die it carries over
[10:13:12 AM] Avu: heck the conditions could be a bit randomized maybe a bit questy who the fuck knows
[10:13:25 AM] Jordan Coles: I'm okay with that
[10:13:28 AM] Avu: it's just to dampen the effect of death
[10:13:45 AM] Jordan Coles: But I think it'd like to tie it into my grave system as well
[10:14:11 AM] Jordan Coles: You need a grave that's not damaged, and maybe you'll need to pay tribute every so often with flowers or w/e to keep the buff
[10:14:33 AM] Jordan Coles: If you don't pay tribute for a long time maybe you'd have to wait a bit while paying tribute to get the buffs back
[10:14:42 AM] Jordan Coles: So there's a reason to keep up with it if you're active
[10:14:48 AM] Avu: meh why make busy work
[10:15:27 AM] Jordan Coles: Idk, free stats seems like something you should have to put some sort of effort into
[10:15:46 AM] Jordan Coles: Putting some poppies on a grave that's likely inside your plot already isn't so bad

I like the idea of little player graveyards covered in flowers and picket fences, apple trees and bushes around them etc

Really cool stuff to be had once you put value on your ancestral line

I've always been all for some form of burial, we have the skeleton and it should be possible be it via fire or interment. Tying it in with some sort of ancestral inheritance in the way of stats is a perfect solution to lessening the effects of death.

Personally I prefer cremation rather than burial as it just seems more natural but you can still erect a tombstone or plaque/statue of some sort in remembrance of the deceased and place your flowers or w/e there.

I like this idea very much, choice of revenge or inheritance is a good one and would prove very interesting to see which players would choose in the heat of the moment. :)

Upkeeping graves? Cool, more chores. That's what the game needs.

If you're actually playing the game it's not a big deal, and if you go away for a while you can come back and easily get your inheritance back after paying tribute again

Just put your grave in your plot, or live without the buff if you cbf lol

Short first impression:
In case you need quality materials to regain stuff it'll only caters to the factions.
In case you could add stuff later it would help hermits a bit, but not much.
Should you need the skull or skeleton then it'll most likely only help in case you forgot to feed your character and it starved by accident inside your walls...

It would be common materials, and you'd be able to bash your headstone and upgrade it if you wanted

It's possible to get your body back after death, it might be nice if you couldn't hearth with a body overhead unless it's your own. This would give the victim like 24 hours before the body decays, unless the attackers can be bothered to crawl-speed the body back to their base then there'd be a good chance of retrieval.

I also like the idea of leaving family heirlooms and treasures with the body to make up for missing pieces like the skull or the skeleton
