As a few examples.
You need plenty of string to make

loom
rope walk
raft
poultices
feather trinkets
ropes for palisade and other stuff
arrows
bow
poultices
stinging nettle clothes
feather dusters
bark boats
teddy bear curios
leather armor pieces ( all of them)
plenty of other clothes
fishing equipment
backpack
and so on.
You need A LOT of string.

Arrows are the main thing, really

Why arrows even require string.
They should require
1x branch 1x feather 1 x stone/bone/hard metal

Feather would be an even bigger pain in the ass than string lol and it would lower the arrow's quality significantly once farmed string starts being used

You do admittedly need an awful amount of string but it's hardly difficult to come by, I'd say rather than have more string sources just lessen the amount of string needed for certain recipes. Rope is the worse one in my opinion, 20 to even make the rope walk, 10 for every rope, 5 ropes in pali c/p ... :x

If you don't bow hunt you really don't need a lot of string. And I hunt like a man. WITH MY FISTS.

I think bow and sling should be usable tools for hunting.
Thats way it has been done in ancient times.
Not many people run towards fox with their fist and try strangle it.

Strings are fine for me. They also give me a reason to leave my place and explore, it would be boring if I didnt need so many. There's more important stuff to fix than this at the moment, this is just people wanting the game to be less challenging.
