They look nice, absolutely.. place few stones on it to get "books" looks and...... that's it?

P.s. The shelf is more generic than a table --> way more 3d models would be required to allow it to display items.. plus items of various sizes. That would be a valid reply actually. Though..you can display only what currently has the model for example.. :) nice compromise...

Personally, I'd be satisfied if the shelf just acted as an add-on to the study desk when placed above it. (Maybe using a similar linking process as walkways, right-click the desk, right-click the shelf, only one linked shelf per desk allowed)
