It would definitely stimulate the trades. I would say that the decay should affect the tools you can put into the hand slots. Consequently, the top-tier hammers would be used for the essential crafts and critting, while lower quality things for mass crafts (curios). It is quite annoying in bigger setups when everyone wants the top-q. hammer to craft some seers bowls. A lot of complaints arise as well. However, there should be a more thoughtful approach to the decay. We do not really want everything to break after 50 uses.loftar wrote:There's just the question of just how fun decay is, in the end, and I'm just not sure.
I see it as the motivation for myself to craft things from the lower quality stuff and store them for the future = save some time for myself/build more storage areas and etc. You cannot imagine how annoyed I was when my villagers would complain that I have crafted tin soldiers/bronze steeds from low quality (in their point of view) materials that I have plenty of. With the "positive aging" the low q. metals could be bought from the noobs, processed and stored for the better/worse times when you would run out of the curios.loftar wrote:As for positive aging of certain things, that could quite possibly be fun, but I'm not exactly sure how I'd like it to work right now. I'm not really seeing how positive aging would provide "cute item sinks", however.
