+1 I agree that leather could be easier to obtain and the cave build exclusion should only apply to walls. Palisades, and also Brickwalls for the same reason - we wouldnt want the devs to have to swing the pendulum back again due to another oversight.

It’s a shame that “reactive fixes made in haste without broader consideration” is a consistent theme of this game’s development. Then again the devs might not even know that/why/how most veteran players cave camp for the first 3+ days of wipes. Ignorance is the cause I suppose.

The devs might not even read this thread and this issue’s persistence would be catastrophically bad for world 16. As in, /nobody with low combat stats gets leather/ bad.

No.
I like the early game chaos.

In fact, we should go in the opposite direction and instead HARD time-gate being able to put up palisades. Put it behind a 1-week timer that is ONLY in effect for the 1st week of the world.

I'd leave it as it is and rethink other means of protecting the claim. Bushcraft traps maybe, cavein triggers, tar to slow ppl down or something. Or just restore cave entrance claim poles. Easier leather = easier to build gate-walls or similar shit. +1 to disabling pali building during raid, though.

TIL you can no longer make cave claims.

I would prefer they give stone fences some soak (like 7 or 8) rather than change leather/palisades.

Most people didn't use the cave claim, so its absence won't affect them at all.

Perhaps it's worth increasing the cost of rage to 50,000 LP, but I'm not sure if it will have an effect. I'm more than sure that 85% of players don't know that the owner of the claim can invite people to the party and they will all be able to aggro enemies on their personal claim. (so the theoretical advantage in combat skills will not be used in any case.
But the cost of vandalism should be increased, perhaps by 25 thousand and the cost of siegecraft should be reduced by the same 25 thousand.
If everyone likes the trick with the cave and the claim, you can make an analogue by raising the soak of the timber house from 7 to 9 or 10.

It won't, 30k or 50k is a matter of 2-3 hours more or so diff if you get decent luck and quest.

Making anything but palisades and similar things non bashable will results in a lot of needless tomfoolery.

Bob Dole wouldn't mind quests changing. Instead of being a thing you do continously, make quests very rare, and the rewards likewise very good, like 10k lp.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Alternatively, bashing by hand or stone axe could be nerfed, effectively gating the destruction of objects with soak behind pickaxes/metal.
