did some farming today and what the fuck, this is so true actually

i can see how stockpiles were useful the couple years ago before the bundlening (hard to imagine how this game would played before that lmao), but now... an urn can carry 45 (3*15) onions, while a stockpile (taking up much more real estate) holds a measly 35.
arguably a crate (much faster and easier to create 15-slot container) is more realistic and takes up more space, but you still get more control over what you wanna pick - with stockpiles, you can just pick shit starting from the last put in thing.

i think they could use some sort of a touchup:
  • give them extra space and extra controls (at the very least "take out lowest Q" and "take out highest Q")
  • don't give them extra controls, and instead give them MUCH more extra space (making them the designated "random garbage" storage)
  • make them into actual pseudo-containers (with their own inventories and such - not sure how viable that is code-wise, but could be an interesting direction combined with a storage buff or in and of itself

the warehouse/granary ideas also remain cool, but it'd be nice to have stockpiles be less ass. in the meantime im off to to fire some urns for my onions

Tbh the whole point of stockpiles is that they are black box you only interact by taking/putting in items in order, but to compensate that, they cost literally nothing and have a lot of storage, so perfect for bulk amounts of items with same-ish quality, while the hql items can go into containers. Like if you give them actual inventories they are just free containers for specific item. Imo buff all stockpiles 10x, and i've been saying that since they've added stacks. A crate is better than A LOT of stockpiles and is also literally free.

yeah, i was just throwing out ideas... and deciding on what sort of an inv layout each stockpile would get would probably be an annoying mess anyway
i still would love to see "highest q" and "lowest q" buttons, but im perfectly fine with the lack of them when/if it's the intended design
