i like the new gilding system but it definitely fails when using high value gilds.
The assumption here is, you don't want any risk putting in the gild, so you want to apply your best gild when it has a 100% chance of succeeding.
The problem is, when an item (thanes) has more than 1 slot, the only time it converges to 100% chance of success is when all slots minus the last fail. So to get a thanes that can apply a gem with 100% chance, it actually needs to fail EVERY slot. Any saves is actually BAD for the success rate of your final expensive gild, even one save turns your last gild into a 50% chance of application (too risky).
So if you earnestly engage with the system, you get fucked breaking an immense amount of gems. If you optimize the system, wanting to apply JUST a single gem on a thanes; you have to craft a fuck ton of thanes. Even one save reduces the chance to apply your final expensive gem by 50%.
