@Jorbtar y'all should join some decent village undercover at the next wipe, gonna be good memes and maybe you will become more in touch with the realities of the game :)

mate they don't play the game past like making grubpies or a dugout, that's been confirmed countless times

every dev stream is literally a character that's been created a hour so before to put stats on and finding some abandoned location to say that it was 'theirs'

+1. Because there are a ridiculous number of recipes in the game, I propose they drastically reduce the number of recipes available, then slowly re-introduce them in regular patches with new values that people don't think are broken.
As far as who balances them, maybe hand-pick a select few players (10 or less) to be on a 'council' instead of just listening to the loudest people. I nominate Vatas for council member.

I don't spice my food so I wouldn't know if it was actually broken or not, but if any food gives literally 250 FEPs at Q10 quality, I'd consider that broken. It's hard to tell what's hyperbole and what's not, in this place. Screenshots would help.

They just need to simplify the FEP calculation for recipes. The current matrix multiplication (I assume that's what's going on under the hood) produces highly unpredictable results which makes it pretty much impossible to balance. And it doesn't really add anything to enjoyment the game, in fact I'd say that forcing players to bruteforce experiments with millions of possible combinations makes the game less enjoyable. Leave that random shit to something optional like alchemy, don't cram it into the main systems. What we have right now is on par with making it so curios get multipliers to LP depending on how you arrange them in your study.

Anyway, IMO all food ingredients should just have a flat list of bonuses to specific stats, and these bonuses should be show in the ingredient's tooltip so players can make informed decisions while cooking. I think additions would be best (for example using chives in any recipe adds +1 base Agi), but I guess really high end stuff could have multiplicative effects so it retains it's value (for example base Str+2 x1.5 for mammoth meat). With this system it'd be a lot easier to balance recipes by limiting the number of variable ingredients, and it would make it easy to add new ingredients like pickled mushrooms without accidentally creating completely broken ingredient combos for recipes like autumn steak.

Exactly! The FEP system has always been mathematically weird. I concur 100% with the above.

It simply does not spark joy. I don't engage with systems that aren't fun (including so-called 'mandatory' ones, e.g. drinking), because I have no interest in gaining a 'competitive' advantage against players who are half a world away from me, and whom I shall never encounter under normal circumstances. The reasons it's not fun are pointed out in the above reply -- weird math should not be found in systems core to the game, imo.
