You could try to turn crime into a gameplay feature with special items that are meant to be stolen or protected but in practice players would just use alts to farm it.

I agree. Alts are both a plus and a minus for the game.

I considered these options and therefore didn't suggest them because they can be abused for protection. But if, with a limit of one theft, you implement "automatically closing locks" so that every thief has to hack all the doors and vaults again, then even with alts you won't be able to steal much. According to the wiki, hacking a good lock can take up to 24 hours of real time.

Only items outside will be at risk.

There's also a solution with the palisade, which I'll offer later. Although it probably won't help much against alts, but 64 won't be able to do it in one go.

I didn't quite understand. Or the translator translated it incorrectly. There's no secrets (cover?).

So all the good players will have to set up bot to aggro thieves.
The idea proposed here will never be added people can stop getting mad at it now.

I don't use bots, so I forgot about them.

Another reason to ban bots: Instead of teaming up with other people or figuring out how to protect their property, they just use a bot.
Why look for a farmer in the village? Use a bot. Why learn to fight? Use a bot. Hunt? Use a bot. We have a bot for every occasion! Suck it, people!

Well, some will use a bot for these purposes, some won't. The main thing is that people will have the opportunity to choose not only between the life of a "hermit" or a "killer," but also other options.

Here's the idea I was talking about. Besides being useful in their own right, with a palisade gate like that, it'll be difficult to get past with 64 alts.
