You say "some" but I wager the majority of the playerbase of HnH comes for all the non-PvP content.

And really, still not sure where this idea that "HnH is advertised to be a hardcore PvP/Raid simulator" comes from. Just go look at the Steam page. Out of 30+ lines describing the game, only 3 allude to the hardcore PvP playstyle while everything is else is about crafting, constructing, gathering and community building.

Who hates their friends so much that they invite them to HnH for the PvP gameplay...? Go play RUST, ARC or any of the other actual PvP games. Heck, Albion Online and EVE are there for MMORPGs too, why are you here in HnH.

They need to pick a lane honestly. I very much enjoy Haven as a "Rust" like and not a farmvile single player cottagecore game like vintage story, but they have been moving towards that market recently so there this trend of new players thinking its VS and old players who know the harsh reality of Haven and that is why they keep coming back. I was hoping this 6 month worlds were going to be MORE pvp focused and lean into the chaos of week 1, and be more like rust. I do feel like Haven as been overwhelmingly conquered the pve cottagecore market which is really sad because there is only a handful of hardcore pvp survival games out there but there is 100s of cottagecore games.

Snail knows the pvp scene and the game mechanics more then anyone and its foolish not to listen to their opinions about the subject, and I think you will find that the people with the most hours in the game are those who play for the PvP aspects. And when they turn around and say there is 101 exploits here, Jorb and Loftar should listen.

Weighing in on the ragehide situation, I am not sure what problem they are actually trying to solve? masses amount of people without rage turning up to sieges or world events but having a safe pali near by to run to, so they can basically run outside attempt to destroy a seigecraft, if they get attacked run back inside without risk. but I thought they said they were going to make all palisade gates visitor gates again and remove the rage debuff? so surely everyone in fights are gonna have rage anyway and if those without it risk coming outside their walls they cant run back inside so that's sorted. the ragehide isn't really solving anything. Or are they planning on keeping safe pali none rage buff, with ragehide, in which case this only really aids in pvpers who don't want to deal with a zerg none-rage characters, it doesn't help the hermits from being ganked or anything and likely the context on which using ragehide is really necessary 90% players won't ever witness. and its an issue that stems from safe pali implementation so solve that instead?

The lack of details on stream or relevant talk about the subject was annoying they wanted too ask our opinions and they waffled about nothing.

My wild take for these experiment worlds is simple, every one has rage by default and remove walls let there be chaos. You will 100% see little timmies running around peoples claims stealing nettles and enjoying themselves.

Who plays it for the pve? There's so many better sandbox base builders. I don't get wat haven does that all the other sandbox farmville games don't? The unique selling point is the hardcore part

Legit would love some suggestions for good sandbox base builders. Haven't found one yet that has systems and content as autistic deep as HnH's in a MMO setting.

with all due respect haven is objectively the best sandbox survival crafter/builder out there and it doesn't come close, i DARE you to show me a better one.

- snake eater/project zomboid wound system which is the best wound system OAT
- best variety of and most logical passive vs active crafting methods OAT (i fucking hate games where you make leather or smelt metal by crafting hide and lye together or ore and coal together)
- best crafting system OAT (best implementation of fluids and powders i've ever seen, every game with fluids always falls short, always gotta craft things with 1 whole water bottle or whatever)
- best distinction of "crafting items" and "building objects" OAT (i fucking hate games where persistent objects like crates and walls are bullshit you craft and put in your pocket and then place down in the environment)
- best balancing for items and objects that feel meaningful taking effort to make (building your first house, row of drying racks, lantern, sword, always feels like a grand feat)
- best food/water system OAT THIS IS A BIG ONE (water bar doesn't exist FUCK WATER BARS and a "food bar" only exists until you have a base and now food becomes a whole different mechanic. every other survival game IN THE WORLD has food and water be items that extend a death timer called your food and water bar and do NOTHING ELSE)
- not best per se but extremely good skill up/level up system (fuck games where you level crafting by crafting things. LP/EXP system is unique and fun to learn, rewards knowledge and foresight, feels natural the way you watch your character learn over time)

beats literally every single survival game at its own game too. it's more tense and my character is more meaningful to me than in the long dark or the forest. its crafting and building systems are more robust, more logical, and have more content that dayz/rust/7dtd/icarus. and honestly i enjoy its dorky ass combat more than any FPS survival game i've ever played.

12 years ago i played haven for the first time and now not 1 similar game i have ever played since feels sufficient. it's honestly not fair how easily this game ruined all survival games for me.

calling haven a survival game is kinda crazy an 8 year old could be good enough at haven to never die to PVE after like 1 casual week of practice

a comprehensive list of activities you need to master for survival:
  • don't stand next to bears (unless you have high stats, then it's fine)
  • don't swim (unless you have high stats or aren't retarded, then it's fine)
  • maybe consider picking an apple off of a tree to eat occasionally

It's funny that everything you listed is not fun game mechanic and some of them making people insane becouse grind/rng/devs unprediction and etc.
Best part of the Haven that it's online game, where you strugeling with the boys, stomping others, larping and making other social interations with other people.
For some reasons devs think that they must bloat game with new content/mechanics and QoL changes all the time, but it's not making best part of the game better (most time even worst).

A week of casual gameplay is a pretty long time for learning the basics of a videogame.
Haven absolutely is an amazing pve crafting and building game.
With the non stop quality of life updates I would say they have given up on the pvp side of the game.

You also have to consider the type of feedback they get when they update either the pvp or the pve side of the game.
Because of the big personalities of pvp people they will verbally abuse jorb and loftar non stop. It doesnt help that devs arent really pvp players so they dont get the vibe.

Meanwhile pve players genuinely thank them for the smallest update to inventory management or some random bs cosmetic change. :P :P :P
The playerbase is cultivating this game to be fully developed for the pve crowd.

There will come a breaking point where the pvp people will be finally fed up and move on to another game.
This is when the game will start thriving as the pve paradise, with the occasional casual meaningless pvp, that it was meant to be.
