Mine Support Changes are Awful.

Better keep a miners hat on you goof. All those cave ins have destroyed your memory.

This. Why cant people move on?

Rather than miscounting, you probably drew the wrong conclusion somewhere. If you're not 100% sure a tile is safe (but think it should be), try reasoning in reverse: If the intended tile is a cave-in tile, what tiles would need to be safe/dangerous and would that be possible? If so, it might be a cave-in tile after all. Often there are multiple patterns still possible.

great system.

Tbh there could be only 3 cave-ins in this picture, depending on the amount of dust. .
Do some people think dust = cave-in ?

The problem is that every tile is dust so you can't tell where the cave ins are...this is what mine supports were used to get past while doing the minesweeper minigame. You can't play the minigame if everything is dust so it gives you 0 information.

Yes, you can . . It's exactly like minesweeper. Dust tells you where is a cave-in AND where is safe. If there is only one cave-in that you can identify, then everything else is safe. If there's only 0,01 of dust everywhere, then that dust is "taken" to one peculiar cave-in.
As long as there is one tile without dust, you can start flagging cave-ins and mine around them. On this picture there is one spot where there is no dust (pile of rocks), going from there it's very likely this place could be still mined without supports, just with some brains and hard work.

Because it was better last world and the change didn't make sense there was nothing to fix because there was nothing broken, its just a resource sink because they probably tought to control metal spirals taking ingots out of circulation. We probably would have gotten the old supports when cave hermit jorb started to get his own shit rekt by cave ins but why wait 6 months when we can push for it now.
https://strawpoll.com/xh2d3zr2 if you give a fuck about mining vote on this. Make mining great again! Bring back old supports.

Because this change is akin to having a stick up his arse, while some might like it and already had one jammed in there.. Most find it quite uncomfortable and painful. Bots doesn't care tho.

Amen we had a very good sistem maybe not perfect but the risk-reward was balanced, at least for regular people. Probably people that could put 10k stats on a chatacter in 3 days could have had armies of disposable miners not to give a fuck about trolls or other annoying critters.

Thats a nice opinion.
The change makes perfect sense as you stated in your post.
A massive amount of cheap iron was sold on the market which contributed to the insane growth of quality.
Anyone that mined seriously last world knows getting a great amount of bars was way too easy.

Great way to convince people. Insult them. You should join a debate team.

I’m hyped for when you try to build your own mine and underground smeltery/cheeserack houses and have to eat your words because digging out large areas is impossible and supports will decay anyways.

Minesweeper is fun but making a legitimately supported mine impossible is some serious bullshit

Yeah I'm not really worried about having to deal with any of that.
