Most don't.

This whole thread reminds me of the whining and rage that sprung into life when a local bar changed owner and the new one fired the complete staff for - since the ex-owner wasn't there most of the time - partiing instead of working and constantly giving away shitloads of free drinks.
The regulars were really pissed and basically argued similar to many people on this thread: that the owner should make his money somewere else, because they were so used to being freeriding they didn't see the point in paying - and the request for that as an insult.

Now many of them have left, but a part of them have thought about it, realized they were wrong, apologised and pay up now. New customers, more than before, are coming and with the negative ones gone the vibe in there is way better now, profits are where they need to be and in case one of the old but i want free because i'm entitled to it fucks comes in and complains he's laughed out of the place.

Basically the same happens here too. Seems like the laughing part is starting slowly, and that is good...

Better to drink an $8 bottle of Barton's on the sidewalk than to pay $8 for a martini with one's friends at the bar.

Agreed, that much p2w would destroy the game.

But I would totally pay $10 a month to receive 2 times the LP/XP on my account for 1 month. ¦]

Games die out, it's a natural thing, and it frees space for new, better games to be born. It's the circle of life, my friend.

Though I agree that they charge a bit much for subscriptions, I also understand that changing it now wouldn't be very fair to those who already paid. I'd like there to be a possibilty to buy a certain amount of playtime instead of the subscription system, but heck, i'm still going to buy a 3-month sub when this one expires.

I do not see anything wrong about the current system because:

You can try the game totally for free and have a lot of 48h playtime which is like enough for 3h/day playing for more than 2 weeks... By that time I am more than sure you can try the game and If you like it - buy a sub, if you did not like it and you think its not worth - playing/paying dont do this thats simple...
I think they did good job cuz as we can see they update more cuz of having the cash boost, so the game is going good way for the players who plays the game.

My only advice here is only to make sub mode only, because the verify acc is kinda stupid or I do not see the difference... Because paying 5$ more and having 14h instead of 7h while you can buy sub for 5$ less also for 30 days unlimited time and unsub anytime

I have been gone for over a year. I did not read all the posts in this thread. I do not mind P2P at all, but what I want to know is this: Is it still possible to use bots? If so, there should not be a P2P solution. If botting is how to game is meant to play it, it is not a game I am willing to pay a dime for.

If bot prevention is a strict condition for you then you cannot pay-to-play MMOs at all, I'm afraid. Bots are possible in every MMO known to man.

We try to design mechanics that are inconducive to botting.

I know that most games are exploitable in some way, but in the old HnH my impression was that everyone except me were using multiple bots. (I am sure I was not the only one not using bots).

A lot of mechanics that incentiviced botting are gone, others are not and some are new that you can bot. I have a feeling like bots are less of an issue, but then again I cannot look inside other towns and what is going on there.

Honestly, the game really is better in regards to bots. Not that there's less bots, but that there's less need for bots - take for example farming: in legacy haven, you had to click every single tile to farm, now you can just select an area and your guy will farm every tile by himself. A lot of things can be done like that.
