I guess you havent really terraformed much then

Did a 4000 dirt terraforming job on my current location. And I've played salem where I terraformed for a good 30 hours on a base location.

Maybe I'm just a little broken, but I enjoy slow paced change. Have you tried metal shovels yet? Wooden shovel speed is a little slow, but metal shovels used to be easily x4 as fast.

Alternatively, you could choose to settle a base location with less terraforming cost.

Yes, thats nothing. For big areas you need to terraform 4000 dirt times 20. And then dispose that to river/lake that might be very far away.

It isn't only the speed that is the problem, manually carrying dirt is another big one...

Yes, or even 4,000 times 50, just depends on the area really. It also depends where you can put the dirt, some places have a low slope you can drop it on, others do not have that even within a 5 or 10 minute walk. And if you just drop it anywhere, it defeats the purpose of terraforming your area in the first place...

Do better planning? survey your area better and figure out where your going to put it, I used roadsigns put my dirt roughly 7 maps away and just teleport to and from with a create

I feel it works as it should, in the real world terraforming isnt fast and it too has to put dirt somewhere

It sounds like you just solved every terraforming problem for everyone that will ever exist, as I'm sure every single person just had bad planning, and it couldn't have possibly been all those other things that were being mentioned in this thread. I'm also curious how you are teleporting "to and from". Do you have a village idol or something? Hearthfire allows teleports but only one way. I also forgot that this is the "real world" we're talking about, so please tell me how I can teleport somewhere in the real world?

Control left click dirt, it lands on the ground as an object that decays instead of changing the level.

Seriously how did you people move your claimed 8000-24000 units of dirt without realizing this?

Many people, including myself know how to control + left click to drop dirt. Many people, also realize that even dropping dirt in this way can still change the level. Seriously.

roadsigns when completed act as teleports allowing you to teleport between them given all signs inbetween have a straight line of sight between eachother Iv cleared massive amounts of land in less than a day if you can;t its either you lack the ability to plan or your unwilling to take the time to do so, the system is lenient and is as effective as it should be

The only thing that should change is the dirt that you pick up. It is way to time-consuming to have to throw away all the dirt in the water all the time or whatever. Especially when it takes you 5 minutes to walk to the nearest water. Make it so that soil stacks up to a 100 or something and I would be satisfied.
