What's the point of multiple recipes even existing if they're strictly inferior to the one optimal recipe? Remove everything but one recipe for each stat and remove ingredient modifiers.

  • Killing yourself to reset hunger is meta/very effective, and nobody wants to do that
  • Satiations makes it most effective (by a LOT) to eat very small portions of food very consistently, people who only play on weekends or even only once a day are kinda fucked on stats even if they put in the same effort
  • Hunger means that eating 'bad' foods usually hurts your ability to gain stats/is a noob trap/encourages degenerate behavior like only eating troll/whale foods being insanely effective
  • Playing the game makes you weaker, because most activities cause energy drain>eating for energy>fucked hunger>less stats. This encourages you to either not play the game, or more often just use alts for everything
  • It's complicated, and a large part of stat disparity likely comes from people not abusing the system well enough even tho they're putting in the hours. Lots of people running around with 200 stats that have played for 6 months
  • It heavily encourages alts/specialized characters. If I eat 10 pieces of dext food it may as well prevent me from eating 10 pieces of strength food, meaning being a fighter/crafter is extremely discouraged unlike world 10/11/12/13
  • Hunger forces you to not eat the kinds of food you like making, and instead eat the 3-5ish most efficient recipes only (ironically the inverse of what satiations were supposed to do)
  • There being outlier recipes that give drastically more FEPs matters too much/is too impactful when you don't find them

1. Then don't do it, problem solved. I don't know anyone who did that intentionally in this world btw.
2. This is very good for people who play less often, not sure how did you even end up with your statement
3. Don't eat bad food then. There are lots of food in H&H, you can find enough options for any stat
4. The game has energy restoration drinks (tea, beer, etc), try those
5. It requires some thought and I like it
6. It's true that specialized characters are easier to make, but I don't think it's a bad thing
7. I was able to find enough variety in the recipes to avoid things I didn't like
8. Some recipes are better than others, but that can be solver with some balance changes on their FEPs

TLDR I don't think the current system sucks.

1.I know A LOT of people who did hunger resets just to heal nasty wounds because it was faster and they would just end up with more stats, just because your little hermit shithole doesn't do it doesn't meant it's not op af.
2. If you play less often you can't eat on schedule whenever satiations go down as it is the most efficient way to play.
3. You can't, there are like 4-5 good foods once you reach late-game (you probably aren't there yet).
4. Yeah sure bring 40 liters of hql beer for each fighter to each fight.
5. It requires knowing the meta and op recipes.
6. Idc either way, i won't do any industry or crafting anyways, but some people want to play a well rounded character and not 10 alts.
7. You don't have enough stats, keeping up with other fighters forces you into 4-5 meta foods.
8. The recipes are randomized each world, unless they fix them all manually it has a big chance of sucking.
TLDR you have no idea what you are talking about because you haven't reached high enough level of play, the system is fine for suboptimal players that don't care about competing, but you can't balance the game around that.

Yeah, hunger shouldn't exist. As for satiations, IMO they shouldn't slowly tick down. Instead, you should get a charge of satiation that goes away after 1-3 RL days, but it debuffs FEPs by a constant amount while it's active. And of course each charge should be tracked individually, so it makes no difference if you rack up a dozen charges of satiation in one eating session or if you spread it over half a day.

I have no hopes of the hunger system ever getting a proper fix. We have been asking for years and years and never even gotten close to getting a decent system based on the input of the users.

I still can't terraform on my main after all these worlds, and I gave up hope of this ever happening.

This is where you are wrong. You cannot balance the game around a minority of super-optimized no-lifers. I wonder, how many players in H&H go for those stats for "high enough level of play"? 5? 10? Sure, let's balance game around them :LUL:
