Audiosmurf wrote:"sand all the corners off the game" bullshit snail thread.

What does this even mean? Are you physically capable of making a real argument?
Are you genuinely telling me you think it's positive gameplay that you have to take a pickaxe off your belt and put it in your inventory so that you can mine out high ql ore without ruining it? That's part of the unique flavor of Haven and Hearth to you?

Your arguments are based on a weak appeal to aesthetics and even then it's still incoherent because I can't imagine a single human being that thinks having to juggle tools in and out of your belt just to do basic things in game is a positive part of haven's aesthetic. I don't even think that you believe this, you're just shitposting and trying to derail this thread for what I can only assume are personally malicious reasons. Please stop being such a nuisance?

Are you illiterate? Belts should be smarter about switching, literally everyone is in agreement about that. What Archiplex mentions about specifying tools for specific uses is a better idea than "I can just hold a sword and still do whatever I want." My concern is functional, not aesthetic, but you're just another sophist snail crony so I'm not gonna waste more of my time on you.

Easily >90% of the time when somebody is accused of being a """snail crony""" I have no idea who they are, or we're enemies in game who'd go pretty far out of our way to kill each other.

I think you're doing the thing where you want your opinions to be popular, so it's easy to construct a narrative where all disagreement is because of a clique even when there's no evidence of that being the case. IMO justifying your own bad behavior by making it an us/them thing, especially when there isn't actually a them, is kindof stinky.

Anyway, unnecessary menuing bad.

Nice projection, retard, I don't particularly care about the popularity of my opinions, I just offer a dissenting voice where I feel it's appropriate. And the clique manufactured consensus thing is so fucking obvious and so long-running that I cannot possibly believe you think I'm gonna fall for that.

idk who that guy is either, but it's easier to say "snail crony" instead of actually talking to a person

  • Bashing a slime generator mining thing? Switch from weapons to pickaxe
  • Butchering animals? switch to a Q10 woodsmans axe
  • Bashing a snekkja in PVP, or something I'm blocked by? Switch out of the shield for a combat cooldown and 50% def weight
  • Want to mine this high quality node? Switch from Q300 stone axe to Q150 pickaxe, ruin some ore
  • 1 million other examples everybody has

+1, the game often switches to a tool that I specifically didn't want to use for a task, it leads to a lot of unnecessary frustration.
Mostly agree with the spirit of the proposed fixes. Also, let tools like hammer and glass rod have their dedicated slot on the anvil/crucible ffs.

Keep your usual trolling out of good C&I threads, thanks.

Don't be a retard, "I should be able to equip two tsacks and still use all my tools" is fucking stupid.

They hypest possible gameplay: put your grocery bag down beside your car so you can fish your keys out of your pocket. Why do you want to do that? Ik it's not realistic to have the car just unlock/have the pickaxe teleport into your hands and tsacks onto the ground but it's because your character int the video game is doing it for you. Reminds me of Space Station 13's interface where you have to choose which hand you are using for everything, so if you had two stone axes you chose which one you were using by clicking a thing, "activating" that hand. Would a system like that be preferable? I bring it up because it's the hard opposite

Also, you vague posted a couple times and only at this point pointed out an example of what you didn't like and your reason is because it's "stupid". Equipping two tsacks and using all my tools from my belt sounds nice and less clicky! I finished the thread and still don't know what your problem with the actual idea is. Seems like your posts are more about the people you're talking to.

Auto switching could at the very least be turned into a toggle.
