Non-FEP food

So evidently that wasn't the actual reason you thought it was an issue. Players are already incredibly competitive with alts and bots in this system. A player who is sitting around, twiddling their thumbs and waiting for 200% FEP gains is losing out on stats compared to the player who is eating constantly and straddling the 50% FEP gains. You'd have to avoid playing for over a week to meaningfully utilize the upper rungs and for what, so that your food is 2x as effective? Compare that to the player who feasts constantly and eats 20x as much food and bounces between 90% and 50% gains every couple of hours. They're going to get more stat points than you by sheer volume.

Yes, someone running dig bots/alts constantly is going to have a little more control over their food schedule than someone who does it themselves but ultimately the gains from that are small. Players who set out on large scale leveling projects without securing tools or food beforehand are digging their own grave. Maybe scale back to reasonable amounts of terrain modification until you've developed the necessary infrastructure to allow you to dig and eat efficiently at the same time.

That was the actual reason. And to sum it up, you basically claim that the issue doesn't exist? Well, I think you are wrong. Since there are so many people complaining, there certainly is an issue. And I repeat: I wouldn't mind if it didn't give such an edge to people using alts. And since the developers have shown that they try to at least reduce the benefits of alts, then yes, that's a problem.

Yeah, why not? You only have to walk the alt there once, setup their hearthfire, and then you can work them to death and just respawn them at their hearthfire by inheriting.

I'm totally OK with the current system. It rewards controlling what you eat. Finding food is difficult only in the very beginning, later in mid-game you can have any stat you want, but still have to think before you eat, and that's cool. It rewards time-management, so you should spend enough time both working and gathering/hunting/fishing. It also rewards playing with friends, so you can prioritize different stats.
I think that having an alt can surely make your main character more specialized, but such character won't have higher total sum of stats as calculated in the posts above. So having alt is less rewarding in comparison to carefully planned single char. Thinking has won again.
I don't like the idea of non-FEP food because it can make eating process brainless. And people highly relying on it will drop their total sum of stats, which in fact will lead to making non-FEP alts for mining and terraforming - and these won't be suiciders like now, they will be very effective!
Why not rely on tea or other water upgrade instead?

Our miner just consumes empresses, and nothing else, 1000% energy at 1% hunger is a good tradeoff, plus the stats are good.

I woudlnt remove the hunger tho. Make some more stuff like rats on a stick, but with 0 FEP. Put a hunger% for it to not be too good.

This way you won't mess with your stats, but you won't be able to eat them brainlessly either, because they will reduce the hunger bonus bit by bit.
Something like 600+energy for 3% hunger. Or smaller ones with a ratio like this. Berries 60/0.3 ? It should be better ener/hunger than meat/fishes, but not too broken.

And I think it should be obtainable quite early.

We need a better rat for mid-game, and an even better rat for late game. Right now I'm eating through 10+ energy bars a day and it literally ruins my hunger bar as even with my village's effort, there simply isn't enough rats to go around. Not only that, you'd preferably get other stats up aswell.

+1, much needed.
