Combat outcome isn't 100% stat based.

However, at sufficient gap, the one with higher stats will have 100% winrate (discounting the higher stat guy losing internet or something.)

After all these years I still hold the opinion the game's combat is unintuitive, lacks impact, confusing and kind of stupid. Fuck, it still lacks animation.

Gear quality gaps are pretty impactful. If you're fully geared with high q armor and a high q weapon vs someone without gear/low quality gear it's no contest

Note that all of these very valid complaints don't have anything to do with the combat system itself (gear quality scaling, lack of animation and intuitiveness), but rather with complementary systems that feed into it.

Also note that none of these complaints have anything to do with OP's """solution""" and this thread is still 100% completely retarded

Just pointing this out before anyone (jorbtar) gets any ideas about for the 5th? 6th? time throwing out the baby with the bathwater instead of polishing an otherwise atleast "fun once you understand it" system. There's not many like that left in this game.

How on earth would you accomplish this? You can't force people to not run away/kite/reposition if it gives any sort of advantage without adding something absurdly hamfisted, like equivalent to DOTA Legion Commander's "duel" ability which forces you and your target to hit each other for set amount of time.

Just use wisdom of ancestors and add Attack of Opportunity like is was implemented in D&D lol. You want to disengage? Eat free automatic bonk to the head first. This would make combat a lot stickier, but wouldn't solve inial 20+ waterskins marathon gameplay, if we consider it a problem ofc.
