How about every time you successfully defeat something/someone/somethey, you gain a relevant amount of UA/MC/MM (depending on how you fought and what weapons you were using). Like some value from 0.1 to 1. Would make fighting not seem boring and actually rewarding.
Could be applied to the rest of the skills as well. Every time you craft/do something related to Exploration or any other skill, you have a % chance gaining a significant amount of bonus skill point. This way you can help the grinders and casuals alike, although this will benefit who does most.
If you're worried about the potential of overusing this mechanic, it can be easily alleviated by putting a certain buff on a character that has done the same shit for a week in real time (forgot where this idea came from, but essentially it forces your character to depression because you're doing the same stuff over and over again. I'm pretty sure that idea originates in this forum.)
W7 - Crestfall
W8 - Silvermoon
W10 - Pueblo Comedia
W11 - Misplaced Caves
W12 - Insulated Gulch
W14 - Vallblómbyrđa
W14 - Local Area Network
W15 - ???
W16 - Rundholm Prospekt [L.A.N]
W16.1 - C¥BΞRSTΞΔD [L.A.N]

yep, remove LP from combat system
or add CLP(combatLearnPoint) to curios and make only CLP losing after death (not fun to lose farming in combat, when you are not a good warrior)

Ok, that + probably low AC makes surviving a lot less realistic if you're actually getting hit, TBH.

I am pretty sure reaching 400 UA or MC would mean either not investing in any other skill at all(and I have been studying since world start), due to how skills cost higher the higher you go, or be otherwise much lower in other skills AND go out in full UA/MC gilded set, which means i cant hunt or do anything else. 400 AC is also extremely high number. When I said decently armored I meant I had ~q120 armor pieces, but 400ac is what, q300 steel full set?

I appreciate the number rundown, but it simply isn't feasible for hermits.

Every character that has put some effort put into should be at least somewhat viable in PVP, IMO

I guess it's time to necrobump this since it was brought up in the announcement thread.
I agree that separate combat skills lp would partially address the problem of mandatory alts spamming and I see no drawbacks in implementing this. Like, at all. Name one.

On the other hand, there is still a problem of expanding personal claims. You still have to make alts to funnel lp into claim expansion. I would like to say that a separate authority system would be a good addition. Kinda like a separate lp pool, that could only be used to claim land and boost authority. But that would open a major issue of claim griefing. Claims would become too cheap and accessible for alts.
Maybe instead there should be some kind of metric, like energy. So you can spend a specific amount of authority points in a certain time span, and that pool will regenerate over time, but it will only regenerate up to certain size. And that size can be determined by the number of exp events your character got in the last 2 days. Something like that.
It's more of a wild idea rather than actual suggestion, because I didn't really think over the details.

no reason not to try this on an "experimental" world

+1
Does not just reduce the need for alts, it also gives everyone a chance to defend themselves.

No more choosing if you want to get some explo and survival, or dump everything in UA in case you're attacked.

i mean, it's an idea posted initially 5 years ago. why do you expect it to be implemented now?
Don't get me wrong, it's a fine idea, +1, but needs some work.
How would you obtain said forms of LP? crafted curio go towards crafing LP and combat gained items give combat LP? would be heavily skewed towards crafting.
additionally, i think that minor, capped stats from opposite LP branch could be fun incentive to push yourself outside your comfort zone. like for example dexterity in tiers of 100's could give +10, starting at 300 to both combat skills as you get them nimble hands. capping at +50. just an example, subject to fine tuning. perhaps some synergy between stats, something like high UA+marksmanship could give few points of perception.
as fine of an idea as this is, it would require lots of fine tuning and adjustments.

great idea +1, as someone who hates using alts, anything to further remove alts from the game is good in my opinion, next come up with a way to not need a key holder alt.

All LP is split between the exact same ratio, otherwise it defeats the whole point. Probably just 50:50 for simplicity.
