I feel like people wouldn't even study pearls long-term because of how annoying it'd be to refill everyday, and guess what, early game, as in when they're the most impactful, they are fucking plentiful because local pools are still not fucked, we got dozens of edels in the first few days with just one guy getting the 1600 early and going to a mountain every now and then. So it actually would make them more balanced if you yeeted the local pools and just made them less common, because if your ass wants a lp advantage your ass can get an lp advantage when it matters the most (it doesn't matter tho, you can just quest too who gives a shit AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)

And this whole "trade with hermits bcs of local pools :whyy:" is a huge cope robbie, local pools incentivize murdering everyone around you from a pragmatic point of view. I get that your hermit slaves fantasy resurged after being in a cave for half a year, but hermits are unable to compete with factions in production regardless of the local pools. You make shit obnoxiously hard to get and you hope people who don't really care about the game for the most part (honestly good for them) and play for a few hours here and there are gonna get them to trade with you? Honestly getting those things shouldn't be something incentivized for hermits let those sorry fucks enjoy the game instead of slaving away at a humiliation ritual just so the big boy might give him a literal stick+stone he took from some random stockpile in exchange. Having slaves shouldn't be the intended gameplay loop, slavery bad.


As much as I disagree with you, I understand your position, and you made me audibly laugh with how you wrote this, so I'll just say leave this topic with the admission that I think my vision on these issues are probably not realistic as it would require substantial development resources (Jorb ded) to shift a lot of the game's mechanics, and since your position is more in line with how things currently are, it may in fact be more pragmatic.

IMO, the ideal solution is to convert all FEPs it gives to will. Probably less work + more will isn't always strong, so it doesn't matter if it gives a lot + catchup mechanic for people who broke their character by getting high stats without raising their will at all.

The game would be better if local pools got yeeted even without this, but this would be nice too if people are shitting their pants over truffles
