In case you couldn't tell, my problem with winter isn't just the fact that 1 mediocre retard can solo 5 of your hermits during winter, which shouldn't be a thing. Sure, bad fighters should suffer, but 5 vs 1 shouldn't be a loss even if those 5 players are monkeys randomly pressing buttons.
That's just on top of every other mechanic that winter ruins, that had what feels like 20 band-aids applied that still don't fix the main issue.
Winter started as:
- 10 awful days (or more?) of:
- crops dying
- trees growing slower and not producing seeds for 2 seasons, but they also instantly lose ALL seeds
- animals starving
- RIVERS FREEZING removing boat travel (and sometimes not even properly freezing, making them annoying for sleds too)
- snow taking 3(?) IRL days to actually cover the map properly (in a very retarded tile-pattern way)
- not being able to use fucking sleds for 3 days due to previously mentioned retarded snow pattern
- horses also becoming useless cause of sleds that can't be raw-hided
- bears vanishing but credos still asking you to kill/put an arrow in them
- ALL TERRAIN BECOMING SPRINT TERRAIN
- tons of forageables no longer spawning due to snow covering terrain
- swamps becoming empty
- you now have to clear snow too, should you need to terraform anything
And then the half-assed band-aids, that in reality just prove winter is just dogshit and should just be cosmetic:
- reduce winter to 5 days, cause it's so dogshit, there's no other fix to at least trick the players into not completely quitting
- greenhouses, which are such a massive joke, not only do they not respect crop growth speed nodes, they only cover like 6(?) tiles, which take the most OBNOXIOUS PROCESS to build (glassmaking), in a game where you need to eat hundreds of things every day
- speeding up how fast snow sets on the ground (and it's still bad)
- change the retarded snow tiling pattern, to a less retarded one which is still shit for a day and a half
- mound beds, since greenhouses were obnoxiously bad, but now you need to build those every time before winter, which means you always need a stash of shit-quality mulch standing by
- wilderness skis, which now made sleds useless, cause skis are faster. One player can literally solo 5 players on foot/on sleds, as long as he has wilderness skis and enough water. People hated having to carry a coracle 24/7 to the extent of which coracle scripts were nerfed and 90% of fighters no longer carry them, yet being forced to carry skis with you all the time during winter is fine for some reason?
These are just off the top of my head. All of them are just mechanics that just push you away from enjoying this game for 5 days. And what do we get in exchange? 2(?) forageables, and more wolf spawns on mountains (maybe, idk)
I like being outside of my walls most of the time, hunting and foraging, but everything just fucking sucks during those 5 days. And I'm sure it's 10 times more annoying for hermits, or people who like farming, or taking care of animals.
Oh and let's not even talk about a new player trying to start playing during winter.
This crap isn't about PVP, but y'all retards just want to argue against all of those arguments because "ooga booga snail bad person made this post". God forbid any of you wants this game to be improved, if it involves agreeing with someone you dislike.
I haven't been part of any pvp group for 2 worlds. This isn't about pvp. Stop trying to make it sound like it's only ruining it for pvpers, when they literally just stop fighting eachother during this dogshit season and hunt hermits and noobs instead for 5 days.
