serVar161 wrote:This is a possible option. I'm not suggesting it for the simple reason that Jorb is already planning to do it. I wrote about this at the very beginning. Until a new, updated chat is available, here's a suggestion.
How does the kingdom owner own the chat? Does he maintain an army of carrier pigeons that deliver messages to players? For creating a kingdom, he gains experience from all residents.

He also doesn't do anything to ban people from chat—does he spend experience points or magicka on it? What game mechanics explain this? He simply presses a button—it's not a game mechanic, but a developer feature.
Also, banning chat in no way forces people to fight anymore. They simply switch to private messages or third-party communication.

Want to silence someone? Grab your swords and saddle your horses. This will increase the number of conflicts when the king maintains his authority, the rules of the kingdom, and so on through communication, punitive raids, diplomacy, trade, and trade sanctions, rather than by clicking a mouse button.

You as a peasant can always find the kingdoms capital but the king can never find your location.
You can't be silenced since all you have to do is switch characters.
The justification for your or anyone elses ban is up to the kingdom owners. If you find the reasons unjust maybe you should accept that they wish to roleplay as an evil kingdom.
Its difficult to play the evil role in these games but it does add so much to the gameplay and band people together against this perceived evil force.
I can't tell you how much fun I've had trash talking this evil kingdom during random noob interactions. The common citizen knows the owners of this kingdom are capricious scum and it creates a unique connection between regular good people.
Maybe next world we can work together and fight against this evil entity using in game mechanics.

I understand your point and anything is possible. But look at the problem:

"You, as a peasant, can always find the kingdom's capital, but the king will never be able to find your location."

1) How do I find the kingdom? I use the "Sense Coronation Stone" magic. It only costs 250 per cast, but it just shows the direction, and you'll have to cast it several times—that's about 1000-2000 experience. No problem if needed. But I spend magic points. That's a game mechanic.
And the chat ban—no. It's not a game mechanic, and it doesn't cost anything.
2) Next, I need to reach that kingdom, through hostile lands, abandoning farming and leveling. That takes time and resources. The chat ban costs 1 second and 0 resources.
3) I reach the kingdom's castle—what next? Write "Is the king a loser?" in the snow with tea? Leave fertilizer at the front entrance? So, you need to gather people, siege weapons, and gear—that takes a lot of time and resources. It's much easier, safer, and faster for the Kingdom to find someone with their resources and people.
4) Let's say you somehow miraculously gathered people for an assault. Let's say you win the battle and break the coronation stone... so what? Instead of a chat ban, we get... drumroll... no chat. Brilliant!
5) So, after the miracle and the wasted time with resources, I need to build a new coronation stone, reclaim the provinces, spending a ton of resources and time on it. Against one mouse click.

And tell me that's easier than for the Kingdom to find the right person.

And most importantly, for why?
- You communicate with your players through private messages—no one communicates with their teammates in the royal chat.
- Creating a new character for communication in the royal chat takes 1 minute and 1 beacon.
- Any more or less organized group or village has its own Discord channel.

For those who've been playing Haven for a while, the royal chat is almost useless, and the inability to post there doesn't affect the gameplay at all.
In fact, some people even disable it deliberately so as not to be distracted.

And that's not all the downsides.

A player is playing, chatting, and then gets banned from chat. It's not like they're being smashed in the head with an axe, so they can track down the offender. It's not like they're insulting someone in the chat, so they can develop a personal grudge and possibly turn into a feud. It's just an anonymous ban with no reason or indication of who's banning them.

I went to the forum to find out who could do this, and the banner himself posted a screenshot, showing it was him. What if he hadn't posted? Or would I not have asked about it on the forum? Few players use the forum, especially newbies. Who should look for?

"Go break the coronation stone." Even if we ignore the complete nonsense of this proposal - that's not the king or queen of the kingdom I live in. It's just someone who's been given a chat moderation checkbox. He's from a completely different kingdom.
So it doesn't work and has nothing to do with kingdom politics. It's just a way to screw up the lives of newcomers or someone else for some "offended" person. .

Whatever the purpose of this, it only harms the game, and the only benefit is a possible ban for the spammer. And that's only if they want it. So it's best to disable it.

yes, you are correct, building a village claim, a coronation stone and meticulously capturing provinces does not cost people any resources, they just instantly willed it all into existence in order to force people to quit playing via the realm chat.

also, yes, the chat ban action having an experience point cost attached to it is another great idea, that way a single person with a charter stone (something a beacon pleb is yet to discover) can effortlessly drain the kingdom of its entire experience pool.

If you think a kingdom should have the ability to ban a resident's chat, make it a game mechanic.
I suggested the option above. Cast a silencing spell. Working title: "Voice of the King." Costs magic points. For a set period. With a note indicating who cast it. Preferably in chat. And with a window where you can add your comment.

So that the following message appears in the chat:
"Player 1," saying "You didn't answer the king's question!" casts a silencing spell on "Player 2."

And with the ability to remove the spell, proportionate to the effort expended. For the same amount of magic points or less (since the kingdom has more resources and it receives them in x1-2 size from the same player).
Also displayed in chat and with the option to add a short comment:
"Player 2," saying "The king does not command me," removes the silencing spell from themselves.
