Yes, let's make the game the most convenient for big villages and factions and not think about the other 90% of the playerbase. Also who the hell is 'controlling' current high node spots anyway? They just have ping bots around that quickly log-in/out.

I just want hunting to be more fun and less tedious for the average player. I don't care if factions bot the same high quality node or bot a 3x3 grid. It's the same thing to me.

What's important is that there's a reasonable/tolerable/ideally fun method to do it without bots. The current meta isn't fun without bots. Most people would prefer exploring randomly. Also there is never PVP around topQ animal nodes, only node griefing with alts.

The more important aspect is which animals should be topQ and how often. Logically mammoth/trolls make the most sense to be topQ, but IMO bears/moose would be more fun since river exploring. Ideal is probably both mammoths/bears both giving topQ, with mammoths just being more likely to be topQ. Choice good. It also needs to be not absurdly rare to get topQ as it is now, but rare enough shitters can sell them to industrycucks.

Even if someone claims bigasss hunting ground and he's botting all that animals who cares?
You got whole world to hunt where QL is uniform.
If that really would be an issue there can be mechanic for reducing spawns in heavily hunted places. But QL distribution should remain constant everywhere.

I didn't think of this.

But wouldn't it still be easier to just go out and hunt on your own? Cause you don't depend on luck to have some animal spawn in one specific place, you can search many more mapgrids on your own, without a bot, right?

Whether or not it'd be easier to go out and hunt on your own is up for debate, but the gap is closed substantially and it's no longer a complete waste of time to hunt while roaming once your cutting tool is higher then q200, nor is botting a high level node a guarantee of endless good quality with little effort anymore.

It would be worth noting that this change would need to ship with a change to quest quality increases, or else the grind would absolutely shift to securing a quest giver locale to guarantee high quality bones.

I love the idea of overhunting an area, would force people to actually move around.

Kinda solid, can anyone think of any issues with this? I would probably reduce the q the heavier the place is hunted instead of spawn rate + the random spawn qs.

Maybe it is just creating another convoluted antibot mechanic that will hurt 99.5% of the other playerbase which I suspect this is the case

I'm pretty sure populated areas already have lower spawn rates just due to players refreshing tiles more often. Like they don't always get 15 minutes without someone walking through, for them to be able to unload and then reload (and spawn animals, critters and forageables) again.

Also this wouldn't prevent an alt checking the spot every 17-20 minutes. At least this doesn't solve the initial problem we're talking about in the thread.
Would it work if quality nodes are completely removed? IMO, probably.

I am living in a big village and always have fun going hunting on my Snekja, just moving through the river systems around. I think that's pretty much how 90% of the playrbase hunt. And actually, Q spots are a big factor of why it's fun - there is always a chance that some random animal that you kill will actually be hq as long as you continue to explore the world.

The high-q bones/hides farming is not a normal hunting, and 90% of the playerbase do not really care about it. I don't think your average player would be iterating bone clay industry.
