I agree that fast travel should be heavily limited.
In my opinion let's keep it simple.
- Remove teleport ability to thingwalls entirely. (teleport from thingwall to charter only)
- Make Charter a Realm structure. (only realm members with proper permissions can build one)
- Allow teleportation within same realm only.

Hermists could still easily visit local markets within given realm.
PvP players would have their fun fights when challenging thingwalls, to expand possible teleportation range.
There would actually be a point in expanding realms.

"- Allow teleportation within same realm only."

So anyone not in a realm, or in a realm with no public well or market, is effectively cut off from markets and wells.

Most of these proposals are like laws in the US - suck up to the rich and powerful and to hell with everyone else.

I don't really like Okocim's proposal. But I prefer it to status quo. Mightysheep said earlier in this thread he'd like a big change, it doesn't matter, as long as it changes things substantially.

I am inclined to agree.

Also for Snekkjas consider giving them an hourglass timer of sufficient duration to enter in combat, to be cancelled if attacked.

Finally, it'd be nice to see fights devolve less into repetitive chases. It's fine to keep skill based movement in PVP, but the solved meta currently is rather stale and could use a change, especially if it means KOs would be more feasible when tracking players with substantial practice at running away and disengaging.

:) You touched the essence of all pseudo-PVPers in this game: they beat chests they love PVP, but once they have to stand their ground - everybody is running. Of course, if they find x10 weaker noob they show how "tough" they are. Keep running... and no changes in the game by devs will make you better in that.

You can always make your own realm, market and well.
It would make local markets viable again instead of only faction run markets being a thing.

I love the mentality of "I did nothing so I deserve to be given everything for free."

You guys can say I'm trolling, but what is the point of making world bigger and bigger when you can teleport anywhere in seconds?
No local conflicts, no local trading, less and less player to player interactions, just putting things on global markets.
Fights with all the same people with no stakes, making it more worthwhile to just go around killing noobs.

What makes a local market better than a global one? The likelihood you'll develop a personal relationship with other vendors and purchasers?

I wouldn't say better, both have pros and cons.
I do personally like the global one better, but local ones are good enough.
We usually only get few decent realms, so it wouldn't be that huge of a change for trading.
In the end it is about limiting fast travel without hindering trade too much.
Also keeping the whole system simple, because more convoluted systems will be abused.
