Much of their decision making reminds me of when people complain about the WoW devs. Creating mechanics that no one asked for, adding system on top of system on top of system, complicating the mechanics more than is necessary. Rather than focusing on the mechanics they already have and improving upon them, they would rather add in new features to further complicate the mess that they have to sort out as those mechanics interact with each other.

It's a balancing game that ends up wasting a whole lot of time instead of focusing on the things your players have actually indicated they like and working from there.
