The thing is other titles in the industry are made by massive corporations that can use money made by multiple projects at once to fund all sorts of other projects. From what I have read here people in Europe get cheaper subscriptions to WoW and Eve online. Unless these people are lying that is because North Americans and richer nations pay more for their subscriptions thereby subsidizing players from poorer nations.

A 2 man indie team can't compete with that. That's why a 6 dollar a month fee is more than reasonable, vs a 14.99 USD fee that Eve charges and Wow Charges. And any other MMO out there charges. And with those MMO's if you AREN"T paying subscription and just play time its 21.99. I just checked steam for EVE online and the price in CAD is 21.99 for 1 month game time.

Compare that to what Seatribe is asking for.

So... Verifying my account gives me additional 14 hours, and then it would be 7 + 14 = 21 hours weekly, or its just 14 hours weekly?

Verified account would bump you up to having 14 hours weekly; that would be renewed each Monday. If going by the old standard; at least what was stated & interpreted; they would not stack if you have any left over time.

Not half bad if you work six days a week a majority of the day, but most of us don't.

I have never been involved with a project that I wasn't on the actual team in which there was more back and forth with the developers.

They don't hide behind a PR spokesperson. And they'll tell you to fuck off or say "good idea" (they'll never say that) at the drop of a hat. That has always bought my trust.

My last 2 cents.

You just described every indie developer in existence.

There's a reason they're called indie developers, it's because there's like 2-3 people max working in the game so yeah there's no one else to talk to.

I would disagree that the level of back and forth with jorb and loftar is comparable to "every indie developer". Very few programmers I know want to deal with the customer because (as I stated before) customers are idiots who neither understand the time, monetary or sanity investment in undertaking a video game production. Gamers are finnicky at best and straight up cunts at their worst.

From my first time playing, I've felt like I had a hand in directing or driving the game by commenting on the game mechanics. Early on in World 3 the community forums were the reason loftar reworked the justice system mechanics. They don't follow instructions or listen to the majority or anything democratic, but they listen to their veteran players and give back and forth.

And to those who think they were sandbagged, if you played this game at all over the past 2 or 3 years, you owe J &L anyway. Build a bridge.

I hope they can fund the game somehow but I don't think this is the way to go. I don't like the playtime garbage; I do however like the new account-bound cosmetics (Maybe lower the price and remove gametime ;]) I personally would buy all of the cosmetics if they were priced around 3-5 usd ea

Because if jorb and lofter did that, there wouldn't be as many complaints about p2p system.

Yea, and in about 3 month the game would go offline since they starved.

I just want to point out that as things are, the revenue from this game will not be enough for them to live on anyways.

There are currently 450 heartlings playing and about half of them are from relatively poor countries.

Edit: Nevermind! I just noticed the cash shop has been changed. Not sure how this will affect potential income for the devs, but it can't be bad. It is good for the players, too. Thanks, Jorbtar!

I think that they should make the game free to play but you spend half the time when studying inspirationals if you have a subscription

I showed this game to a friend and he said:

"Why does your character walk like a gorilla? Why are the controls so bad? They expect you to pay to play this? Holy crap, this is abysmal! They should pay you to play!"

It makes me feel a bit guilty for wanting to play. To outsiders, this game looks like absolute garbage and paying seems ludicrous. I've played and enjoyed the old H&H, though, so I am tempted to eventually buy a subscription to this if it doesn't become a ghost town in the coming months. But it feels wrong.

I have an idea for change in the game. First off, I liked when it was free because it gave everybody a fair chance of playing. When you put a time limit on a game that takes up a lot of time to play, eventually there will be a huge split in the progress the players who pay to play and the players who don't pay. For example if you give players 2 days vs 31 days there will be a lot more progress made in those players who play longer, which will make a permadeath game like this user unfriendly to new players. If you really want people to pay for your game then make the game about 5-15 dollars for a purchase, as in they own a copy of a game. That way everyone has a fair chance at least possibly go up against people who would have originally paid for the game. Because currently this one game alone costs more than a month of xbox live where you could get as many games as you want if you already own them.
