Claims drain LP over time?

Postby Zero7 » Sun Aug 30, 2015 7:00 am

So if you want to keep a claim it drains your LP over time?

Sounds awful.

We have to constantly pay LP to keep claims up now?

Jesus Christ, I wonder what other features the devs butchered.

I don't think you guys realize this is a solution to some problems people have been unhappy about. Having claim presence is beneficial because it:
1. Helps prevent mass claims
2. Allows claim decay for inactive players.

I can't speak for the past 3 years of Haven but these used to be problems people really cared about.

It's negligible, I will provide a formula on the wiki (when the wiki comes out and I figure out the formula). Think about how a village claim has authority, and then make the numbers a lot smaller for non massive claims.

Please don't circlejerk "everything is bad" because perhaps if you think about it for more than a second and actually test it yourself you will realize you are overreacting like a lot of people do on these forums for a lot of things.

Edit ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

To clarify a couple of things I didn't mention:

-You will get a weightless curiosity associated with a specific claim (called a bond). If you gain LP while studying this curios it will fill the presence of the claim automatically. Alternatively you may spend LP to fill it, say if time is of the essence. This curios is not bound to the owner of the claim either. A new bond can be created destroying the old bond at the cost of a relative amount of LP
-The bar starts at half full, and the amount of influence added per extra tile is non-linear.
-Players may now have more than one claim, I have not yet found an upper limit for the number of claims (granted I haven't tried :P ), safe to assume there isn't one. Instead of needing to limit the number of claims players may have, they must now be responsible maintaining them so abandonned claims will not be an issue

Can confirm that everyone cared about it a lot for the last three years too.

is it still negligible when people can accidentally run up there playtime in a week and be locked out of the game for the rest of the month?

If anyone is saying this is bad then they must have forgotten the massive p-claims that came up pretty quickly. They were hard enough for villages to deal with as well. How is this even bad? It solves a shit situation to begin with.

I disagree on two different parts on this opinion:
-There are many reasons to believe why this would not be an issue. If you really need them lined out I can do that but I shouldn't have to.
-Asides from that you should learn to be conservative with your play time as F2P similar to how you have to smart decisions about a lot of other aspects about this game.

So perhaps stop nitpicking and see how things work instead of making implications that cannot have supporting or opposing evidence at this point in time (or be smart with your playtime and bypass this scenario you're creating).

not an "opinion" it was a question, so perhaps you don't have to turn into a nitpicking cunt, then throwing around accusations?

this is why this flame war just keeps burning hotter, people come in, ask a simple question, and you uberfans who have drunk the koolaid act like fucking cultists. Chill. The. Fuck. Out. You are only causing more shitposting, raging, and fighting with responses like this.

I think it is. Given this is straight out of the changes made in Salem, with mostly likely mild tweaks to the formulas for per tile upkeep, you should get at least 30 days worth of upkeep there, so if you make sure it is full before you burn out your playtime, i'll be there the next month.

Wish I had something to put down if someone proves me wrong, but I don't think they will, anyway.

edit: I expect most dedicated haven players will run their play time out in 3-4 days at most, and 2 at most if it's over a weekend.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
