Make Cosmetic Hats Useful

Postby Lunarius_Haberdash » Tue Sep 01, 2015 4:01 am

I was loving on my Pilgrim's hat, but then I realized I don't get the bonuses from my Spruce Hat, so I have a suggestion.

1 - Allow us to slot non-armor hats into cosmetic hats.
2 - Allow us to slot any into the German Pointy Helm.

This allows us to retain the items utility while sporting our awesome hat, without hiding armor items in things that don't make sense.

Why would you do something like this instead of just adding a costume slot?

Because a costume slot could theoretically override any piece of clothing, including metal helmets.

The idea here is to limit how much you can obscure your actual set up.

If you're wearing armor, you're wearing armor.
If you're wearing a pilgrims hat (Cowboy/Sherlock Hat/Whatever) You're not.

However, if the limitation could stand, grand!

Why limit it to hats?
Going around and smashing critters with the "devz suck!" sign would be hilarious.

But alas, we can't. It would obscure the actual set up, as said above.

No uses for cosmetic items please. Just do what Jackard says, add a cosmetics slot that overrides your appearance.

This amounts to the same thing, provided that cosmetic items can't conceal that you're wearing armor. Hence the "One hat will cover up anything shy of actual armor, the other covers actual armor."

We don't need what someone is wearing obfuscated.
