No dead foxes in areas no one has been in recently

When in the noob zone, I ran across 3 dead foxes in 2 days. When I went looking for a new home on foot, no dead foxes for 2 days and saw lots of mongoose around. Only places I've seen dead foxes since were in map range of other peoples claims. I'm guessing that foxes don't spawn dead, and no one had been in the back woods b4 me that day. Soo the foxes and mongoose didn't have time to meet and kill one another when I was marching through map tiles.

However, one of the reasons people march into hard to reach areas is the area hasn't been picked over for rare items. Plus it seems weird that foxes only die when people are around to watch them, like some quantum entanglement theory shit.

I guess hunting for dead foxes is a better reason to circle around other peoples claims then robbery.


But I guess I'm asking for an occasional fox to spawn dead for the sake of realism.

Don't other animals kill them? I found a dead fox near a bear. (and no player was watching it)
