house connecting

i feel like the houses are so limited, even if you add bigger ones they don't feel quite right, could we add connections to houses by building houses directly next to a house, maybe make it so you have to place the door from the second house into the wall of the first house and it adds the door into the first house or something

I really, really, really, really, really, really, really want custom size and shape buildings. I think one interesting way to go about this would be some sort of auto-tiling modular system, with the houses going on a sort of grid and automatically interconnecting / changing model based on what's where, with an interior layout to match.
