timers on steel

Could the amount of coal put in the crucible allow for a bit more time? the 8 hours makes it pretty hard to get a full nights sleep.

They reduced it further? I already wasn't planning to make any with the bullshit 12 hour timer (especially now that Crossroads are no longer a necessity), but seriously. Can't they make it harder in other ways, like reducing its quality if it's not attended to in time, or making the process take longer if you take more than 8 hours per refuel? It's way too harsh on hermits, and at 8 hours per refuel it's plain impossible.

Good. Steel should be a valuable resource requiring a stupid amount of effort to put in.

Beats the shit out of it being just another stupid timer you get to ignore 99% of the time.

Well now. Eight hours is a bit draconian.

It's perfect time if you have two people on rotation. Even if you just have your own self doing it, it's not impossible to manage. The day steel becomes something the average person can (easily) make is the day the game dies.

The requirements should be based on effort as opposed to bizarre time requirements though. Everyone should have equal opportunity to make steel despite their sleep schedule/work schedule. There's other ways to make it difficult to craft.

Equaöity in haven is no go. Some can play. 8 hours a day some only. 20 minä.

Not necessarily, without making it impossible to craft en masse the way certain factory-steelworkers that you and I both know do. I adamantly think it is a perfectly fine system.

Perfect. If you set up right, you only need about 20 minutes a day, maybe an hour maximum, to fuel your steel.
