I think symbel is pretty useless in the early game. All symbel items seem to give satiation reduction, with only a few items giving FEP bonus. With satiations being no problem for a character with stats in the 30s-40s I seem to have no use for tableware. While the satiations mechanic will probably still be rebalanced (I don't think anyone has characters with stats high enough for satiations to really come into play to be able to provide some meaningful feedback), I think that this symbel bonus is targeted at higher level players. Therefore I would like to propose something instead of it, which would benefit lower level players.
For example variety bonus. Currently, from what I have seen, variety bonus shortens FEP bar by 12-13%. We could have symbel increase this bonus, instead of lowering satiations, at least for the low level tableware. 1% variety bonus from tableware would increase the amount of FEP bar cut off after eating new food by 1%. So, assuming 13% is being cut off, with 1% from symbel it would be 13,13%.
It would slightly promote even further obtaining new types of foods for low level players. Higher level players might still prefer the simple +FEP bonuses for their best and biggest foods and satiation bonuses when they eat a lot of the same types of foods. Probably they would then make separate table for symbel with variation bonus and various filler food to cut their FEP bar as much as possible, and then move to the table with big foods to get as much FEP from them as possible.
That's just one idea. Whether it makes sense or not - please think of some ways to make symbel more useful in the early game
