Idea for combat

It would be quite nice if all melee weapon attacks were striking, then they wouldn't be as overpowered.
Also, if there were no melee manuevers, then it makes unarmed actually useful.
At the moment hitting for 300 with a Q10 steel sword is absurdly powerful.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Will consider. Thanks.

Simply not putting melee combat moves in the game would be a huge disappointment imo, especially because the shield is in the game. I do agree though that the super hard hitting abilities should probably be tied to 1 or 2 schools of damage (or add more defenses that defend against multiple attack types) just so you don't have to keep all 4 defenses up or get 1 shot. Or the hard hitting abilities could be nerfed slightly so chop is not a 1 shot with a soldier sword. Either way, i don't think just not adding melee combat maneuvers is a good solution to anything. More variety in combat never hurts.

i think regular chop should do only x1.5 dmg of punches (with knuckle)

and the chop, we got now (250 dmg) - should use some initiative points, like 2+2

so we can add some meele attacks and maneurs

like hittig with dull end of sword - this can do near no dmg but break defence at x1.2 rate

if attacks won't do so much dmg then they can be blue yellow or green
