I noticed as of late a huge increase in server instability and lag, ever since today´s patch the game has been slower than ever.
What is causing this instability? Are there any plans to upgrade the server hardware and bandwidth using the subscription money to fix the issue?

There are no particular signs of server-side lag. I would rather guess that the Internet connection between you and the server is being shaky.
