Only have one stockpile size

Postby val » Mon Oct 05, 2015 11:12 am

I don't see a reason why there should be two types of stockpiles. One small selection that require larger than one tile, and the rest fitting neatly in one tile. The only three that come to mind are:

1. Boards

2. Pumpkins

3. Straw

It just makes my OCD flair up that they can't be stacked neatly and easily.

Many different types of stockpiles have overlapping models like carrots:

Visually I wouldn't mind if they were squashed together. If that's a problem, just shrink the models by 33% so they only occupy one tile.

Small quality of life change. Otherwise, thumbs up on stockpiles.

You can manually choose their location by holding ctrl when placing them, allowing you to place them 0 pixels apart. You can also squish certain piles closer together depending on which direction they face, such as carrots, using shift + mousewheel when placing them.

Yeap thanks, I was aware and it is handy (for my OCD). However these large stockpiles (brick stacks are another that are weird, 1 tile in one dimension, 1.33 tiles in the other) still take up 1.33 tiles no matter how close you squish them.

Here's the 3:4 ratio.

Yes, carrots are a different size from lumps of coal, and piles of entrails. Thanks for the insightful post.

My point was: "There is no reason a stockpile of boards should have the same dimensions/composition as a stockpile of carrots"

One stockpile size does not fit all.
