This is something I have been thinking about. For outdoor use. So it looks better for those that have a garden ect...

Stainless steel not invented, copper and bronze make toxic oxides not sure about tin but probably too soft anyway to make a chair. I guess you could paint them...

Wrought iron and I think even cast iron furniture has been around for quite some time.
