Well, as I said in the other thread, I really like this idea!
I have thought about the damage bit, if they do fall down and incur any serious damage then the attacking boar, bear, badger will simply be able to finish them off rather than ko'ing them as they do now. On the other hand if there is just a chance of success with no penalty it seems a bit boring/pointless.
Maybe just balance the damage from falling by making it minor, as in a scrapped knee or bruising.
Or expanding even further on the idea of climbing trees .... as a reason to climb them without having an animal in pursuit, have a chance of discovering a curio of some sort at higher levels, you could then get an option to scale to a low branch or a high branch, the damage dealt from the chance of falling could then be attuned to the height. For escaping animals you could just use the low branch option but if looking for the said curio you would climb higher and risk a broken leg or something.
Anyway, am all for climbing trees.
